I have a spot by my front porch where I want to plant a couple of shrubs. My problem is that this is on the north side of my house and gets absolutely no direct sun. The roofline of the house cuts the sun off a couple of feet from where I would plant them.
I Have been considering things like mountain laurel, rhododendron, diervilla, hydrangea, etc., but it seems that all of them might need some degree of sun.
I would like something that would top out at 3-4 ft high and up to maybe 3 ft wide. It would be nice if it were something that had interesting blossoms or leaves. My hardiness zone is 6a.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a situation like this and if so, what they planted and how it did.
Shrub for area with absolutely no direct sun
Aralia cordata sun king!! If you like the bright leaves. Awesome shrub 5 ft tall and could get as wide at maturity
