A friend of mine does not like outdoor work, but likes to have flowers in the yard. She used to hire someone to plant annuals each year and to weed the flower bed. She can no longer find anyone to do this. I have offered to plant a mix of perennials and annuals for her this year, but I am not sure I will always be able to do this. A few perennials would give her some color and zip even if she cant get any annuals My question: is there a truly no maintenance perennial that will not need much deadheading, cutting back, division or staking up.
Easy care garden
Hi Monnie,
Iris and Daylilies can get by with little care. Like most perennials, they are "one shots". I prefer annuals, zinnias particularly, because they bloom continuously until frost. Portulacas (Moss Rose) are an annual that doesn't demand a lot of care.
