Help repotting shamrock plant

Norfolk, MA

I have never been able to keep a plant alive before until last year when my co-worker gave me this shamrock plant. I’ve had it for almost a year now and it is outgrowing it’s current pot. Does anyone have tips for repotting shamrocks? Also, I read they should have a “dormant” period- how do I know when to let it go dormant?? It has been doing really well in my kitchen- it gets a lot of indirect sunlight. I really want to keep this plant healthy - help!

If you remove the plant from the container and its rootbound, pull the roots apart a little. Shamrocks often experience a period of dormancy from a few weeks up to three months. If you water your shamrock regularly and notice the leaves dying back and new shoots don't appear, it's probably okay. Put your plant in a darker corner of your home and periodically give it a little water, but not too much.
