Dear DD members,
I need urgent help.
I have 3.5 meter Ficus Amstel King in my balcony.
1) In March 2019, I wanted it to shoot branches downwards so I did rejuvenation cutting. I left no leaves whatsoever.
I cut 1/3 of the roots as well.
2) It worked perfect and in few weeks the plant was booming and shooting branches downwards as I wanted.
3) In 3 months, plant was perfect.
However, it started to go downhill from there on.
1) First, I started to get deformed growth like this:

2) Then leaves started yellowing, or being burnt from different places. The health of tree was deteoriating.
Today I removed the plant to place in new potting soil mix (with 20% perlite) so that it can breathe better.
Problems:
1) Roots are exactly the same size as I planted 6 months ago.
2) There are no new roots (the smaller yellow ones).
3) All roots are black (however, there was no mushy ones).
4) The soil inside the rootball was like mud. Very stick and very wet. Even though top of 2 inches of soil was dry.
I removed almost all the soil i could out of hte roots and washed it for almost an hour and planted with new soil.
What I might have done wrong?
I left it sit for a day with a tray full of water at each weekly watering.
Is this saveable and what should I do?
Many thanks!
