I have small, black beetles that fly, destroying my basil leaves. They measure approx. 5 mm in length. I would like to find out what they are so I can make a homemade 'brew' to destroy them/protect the plants. Without your help, there will be no pesto for the winter! Thanks so much!

Look up the darkling beetle. It's an adult mealworm. It looks like the beetle you have pictured but hard to tell the size. Also look up flea beetle... good luck!!
