Removing Wildflowers

Hi! So I’m a complete newbie to the gardening scene. I’m wanting to start a veggie garden in my backyard, but the area I want to do it in is overrun with wildflowers. What’s the easiest/safest way to remove them? I’m doing raised garden beds (the soil in west Texas isn’t great), but I’m also planning on mixing veggie beds with flower beds. Any ideas?
