Magali Blanco - a fantastic woman. I just watched her on the TV and her garden was completely destroyed by Hurricane Andrew and the site was bulldozed. Eight years later she has created a paradise, not only for her wonderful plants and trees but she has provided a habitat for a diverse range of wildlife. If I ever get to Florida, this is one garden that I would love to visit. I am so used to cottage gardening that this was a refreshing insight into the diverse world of flora and fauna - I am spellbound!!

Patty - It was featured on HGTV at around 5 this evening. I don't even know if her garden is open to the public, but the HGTV page should give more information.

Patty, I just looked it up and it doesn't say anything about a web site or whether the garden is open to the public. But, although the lady said it was based on an English country garden, it wasn't how we would picture it, because all the plants etc were very tropical in nature. But if you want to see cottage gardens then I'll see what I can find for you. One of these days I will post my photos of my garden back home.

I saw this on TV also. Incredibly beautiful! I envy her that climate and soil. And could you believe those bromeliads? Using them for shrubs?!?!?!? She even has to keep them trimmed. Good heavens! Five acres of Heaven. Wow!!! She did say, however, that she had to bring in those 400 Macaw parrots after hurricane Andrew and keep them there in the house for 4 months. That would have taken a bit of perserverance!

LOL....Can you imagine having those in the house? What about the rest of the menagerie I wonder? How on earth did she get her garden to look like a jungle in 8 years. All that animal and bird manure I shouldn't wonder? But it was incredible!
