MaVieRose, I WAS VERY SURPRISED ABOUT SOME OF THE PLANTS I SAW. HOPEFULLY I WON'T EVER HAVE TO EAT ANY TO SOON. OF COURSE THE NATIVE AMERICANS KNEW ABOUT A LOT OF THESE PLANTS.

MorningGlory,

this is the reason why i love doing research ;)... one never know what one will find in the process. i was totally surpise myself to find so much of the plants we grow are edible too! this is one of the reason why i posted it, cause how many of us are aware of these information? and how often can we encounter anyone whose knowledgable on the subject, albeit share the information.

Thank you again MVR,being a native american no surprise for me,lol' :D, Sis'

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

u're very welcome Sis ;)! i wish i could learn more about plants unknown to me. very rare that i could encounter a 'native' whose willing to share some of these info. elder's from the Philippines, do share these kind of info about local plants to the young. wish i could sit down with u and talk all night long. just kidding :), but then again learning about these plants is very interesting to me.

GEEE! u ALL are so wonderful!!! makes one's effort in research and share info well worth doing! now am far more entice to find more info to share.

say Sis, fresh young dandelion leaves are nice in salad & soup too! i do not know about the wine thou, i never tasted it yet.

Dori, i've heard long time back they were edible, but have not really come to learn how to fix them as yet. maybe i will ask Jianhua [China] if they use them in cooking or any which way the daylilies are use for food.

MVR dandelions are great like garlic to purify the blood, very high in antioxidants' On the farm we called them"greens" MVR' I've gathered tons of them for meals as a child, lol' They are wonderful' Only thing better than "greens" is MORE GREENS,lol'

When you visit San Antonio, be sure to go to the botanical center there. They have a little restaurant on the beautiful grounds, and you can order the prettiest plates of food made with the flowers grown there. Salads, desserts, main dishes, you can find it all.
