Hey, Go Vols! I LIKE Gardener's Buying Guide!! Also, I just seconded, 'Before You Buy' which way suggested by Smilin32.
Need Your Vote!
I really like Gardner`s Buying Guide. It says it all. I think the Gardening companies would be willing to advertise their ratings in The Gardner`s Buying Guide also.
There are so many good points pointed out by everyone on this subject. I would have to say a combination of #1+#2. Or something like......... Comsumer's Garden Order Watchdog?
Wouldn't you want something that would have the main keywords that are submitted to search engines to be in the Title of the subject? I don't know, don't mind me though.........not thinking too clearly today :o)
Gardener's Buying Guide. Sounds professional and states it's purpose.
Gardener's Buying Guide gets my vote
I think any seller who is legitimate and understands that feedback from customers is 1. good free advertising 2. a great way to learn from mistakes. 3. The only form of advertising many folks trust. and 4. a chance to see where they can improve upon their service and as a result increase their business will be happy to see how they are rated and why. By allowing them the ability to respond they have an opportunity to correct any problems and address them. If they choose to do business they choose to deal with the watch dogs who deal with them! But please remember that these business are run by people and people are capable of mistakes. No company should be rated upon hear say. This rating should be based upon YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE! If we stick to this we will be able to determine whether we want to try a new source or pass on it.
Gardener's Buying Guide says it all, and opens the way for rating other sources than mail order. It would be logical to assume that local sources would end up being included, so why not start out with a name that will fit a lot of expansion! I like it and wish to change my vote.
As purchasers and targets of companies and also a business woman,I invite criticism from my customers' It tells me how to improve my service and I don't resent it but build upon it,happily' When one of my customers suggests something I "LISTEN CAREFULLY" It is a give and take situation and no matter what anyone may think or determine,"the customer IS always right" They know what they want and will not be satisfied until they get it' Some of my "toughest customers" are also my BEST' I look forward to their comments and learn from them' I know full well that the best advertising is "word of mouth",FREE' It can make or break any business, any'''After reading these responses I also must change now and go with The Gardners' Buying Guide' It's less intimidating just from the sound of it' Yes,GV' my choice too' Sis'
Gardners' Buying Guide get my vote.
Ruth
I vote for Gardener's Buying Guide. Sounds very professional
I would like to change my vote to Gardener's Buying Guide also. I think that one is the best so far.
in case it didn't count when I said I like it, I change me vote too to Gardeners Buying Guide. Just to keep things official:)
My vote is still for the Gardeners Watchdog. It is shorter and I think it expresses the intent perfectly.
hey vol. I just am amazed at how we all keep Having things in common. I once knew a dog named Buster, he had a brother named Bingo.

Gardener's Buying Guide
I`m all for Gardener`s Buying Guide. It is just an idea but it sounds like an item that would be in all of the garden centers, farm centers, nursery`s and agriculture dist. centers.
Gardener`s Buying Guide gets my vote too. Who knows? If it gets really complete it may actually get to be a yearly published guide for sale at garden shops across America!
yep! Like that one. Gardener's Buying Guide gets my vote.
Disreguard my other vote.
We're getting close here. I want to throw out 4 versions of the name that has received the most votes.
Among these 4 choices, which do you like best?
Gardener's Buying Guide
Gardener Buying Guide
Garden Buyer's Guide
Garden Buying Guide
When making your vote, please keep in mind which is easiest to say (especially if you say it over and over again).
Dave
Garden Buyer's Guide. and I did a web search and can't find this there, so that's a good thing. (none of the above versions came up)
Gardener's Buying Guide is perhaps the best English of Dave's variations? It is a Guide for a Gardener (rather than for a Garden).
I still really like GARDEN WATCHDOG as stronger sounding, and less generic. Reminds me in a way of David Horowitz and "Fight Back"... Not all that negative really, as if the companies were all wonderful, there would be no need for the Report anyway. (I know, then why not Gardener's Watchdog, but that really loses something, probably the image of the Watchdog Guarding the Garden). Imagine the Logo!
From the viewpoint of a casual surfer-in, unfamiliar with Dave's Garden, "Buying Guide" would appear (to me) to be a place to buy, rather than a place to find reports both positive and negative.
Just a few early morning, pre-coffee thoughts.
John
Since tiG did the search,my vote is now Garden Buyer's Guide'
Just by the name,it sparks(targets)the interest of everyone, not just gardeners' This is now my vote, cancel my others please'
New gardeners are sometimes shy/inexperienced also and we need their input as well' Garden Buyer's Guide is general enough to cover everyone,IMHO,Sis'
well, just to be clear, none of the four came up in a search, so they are all good, it's just getting down to the nitty gritty now. I liked the way Garden Buyer's Guide came off my lips.
If I was new on this site and saw the Garden Buyer's Guide or Garden Buying Guide I would think it was a guide to buy garden supplies or plants.I still vote for Gardener's Buying Guide.
Here's an idea, (which you're welcome to shoot down):
Garden Watchdog: The Gardener's Buying Guide
or
Garden Watchdog: The Buyer's Guide to Garden Companies
Shorten it to "Buying (or Buyer's) Guide" in the links section on the right-hand side.
The reasons I suggest such a mouthful of a title are:
1. We all still like Watchdog (yes, even me);
2. The words "Garden" "Buy" "Guide" in the full name should cover about any web search that someone might try to find a resource like this;
3. When someone finds it for the first time, the full name pretty much explains what it is; and
3. We can still refer to it as "Watchdog" for short, if we want to.
So, what do ya'll think?
yes gv, I'm with ya
Yes
Right On,Vols
Sounds great! John
Perfect solution!
Right you are Vols. I am with you.
GV--- I like Garden Watchdog: The Buyer's Guide to Garden Companies!
Looks like we may have a winner!
Before we "etch it in stone", I'll start a new thread to make sure no one has a really strong aversion to "Garden Watchdog: The Buyer's Guide to Garden Companies"
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and opinions. I think through this process we've come up with something that really captures what this feature is, in a name we can all relate to :)
Garden Watchdog: Gardener's Buying Guide gets my vote!
Oh I put my 2cents in on the other page preceding this one........LOL. Sorry.
