new contest

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

(hated to start a new thread after being named the Queen, but oh well:)

How many pots do you have in your house right now? A cell pack isn't 6 pots!! Just curious if I can claim that title too.
p.s. if you have a greenhouse, those don't count, you have your reward in the greenhouse itself:)

Prize?? you get to be named Queen/King of pots!!

I guess I better start counting mine.

Palmyra, VA(Zone 7a)

You didn't state empty or full pots. I have about 200 little ones waiting for cuttings, but only 20 or so with plants.

Kitchener, ON(Zone 5A)

22 house plants 5 of them tree's

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

tiG,
I have 34 pots that have plants in them. I forgot the ones in the other bedroom so now have a total of 45. I thought that was a lot. My goodness 200+ and my children would have me commited. LOL

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

no deadline Sis. Lisa, are they in your house or a greenhouse?? and yes, if you tend them, they are definitely yours!!! I didn't count my seed trays, forgot those. :)

Whew,thank you''':D

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Ask me next year :-) I have hundreds of empty pots - but that's me!!

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

Well for houseplants I only have about 20, of course when the greenhouse is as full as it is right now, I may be forced to bring some in here, lol.

2 pots in the house...both empty right now.(commodes that is)

(Zone 5a)

I have 12 and that is very crowded 4 of which are hanging.

Palmyra, VA(Zone 7a)

You have over 260 pots in your house??? How on earth you managed that?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I now have over 290 one gallon - 5 gallon pots. :( They are everywhere!!! One half of my large living room is full of plants. We can't even put up our Christmas tree cause of plants, so we went out and got a 3' Norfolk Island pine (another plant:) to go on dining table. Fortunately I have several postage coming for cuttings so that will help make room for a few more. You can see why my husband came up with the idea for a greenhouse all on his own:)

That did it,no more countin' for me,lol'

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh come on!!! I still want to know!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

WELL NOT MANY JUST FEW AS YOU KNOW, I AM NEW HERE HE HE HE AND WILL HAVE MORE POTS IN NEW NEXT SRPING ;)
NO GREENHOUSE :(

Palmyra, VA(Zone 7a)

Lisa,
If they are in your house, you should be able to count them. :) As long as they are in the house, not sitting outside.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

hey Lisa, you can count them now if you're going to have to bring them in. I know you have that awful sunny weather there!!!

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

Ok, I think this counts as it isn't outside and it isn't a greenhouse. Under my house I have 300 plants growing under lights and in the kitchen I have 25. Total 325.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Elena, whew!! I was feeling very obsessive. Now, how do you keep them warm under the house?

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Now what kind of plants do you think Elena is growing?Hummmmm

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

At first glance I thought I would win this title hands down, but I'm a mere peon compared to you guys. Now I want to know how long it takes to water them and how much water does it take for an average watering. I'm not even trying to figure out how you find room for yourself. It's clear you are all obsessed.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I water everyday. Not every plant, but I have to check them all. Now 1/2 of them are fed and I have to get back to the other half.
But I'm not done getting plants. I want them all!!!!!!! Wouldn't you know my very favs are tropicals!

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

lol Aimee-Now i understand why it takes so many trips to the sink and back to water the plants. im thinking all together 6-10 gallons of water in all. maybe 15-20 min.!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I can't beleive it,I just took a count,I was in the middle of repoting some plants,(some brugs are 3 or 4 to a pot),I took a break, clicked this on , and counted. ( 237)I would have guessed at 150!!And I only counted as one the pots with multiple brugs, and others that I consolidate into one large pot for the winter. Once I get done repotting I'll be close to 300.Oh my God,I just relized I forgot some,5 more under the table!!The majority are brugs but tons of other stuff too. There must be something lacking in my life to have this many plants - I know what it is! After alot of soul searching I figured out what I'm missing in my life. A GREENHOUSE!!!!!!!!!!Sorry if you were expecting something spirtual

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

exactly!!!! CC, I totally agree, we must have them next year. Can you imagine how many we'll have with all these seeds, and I'm just talking brugs!!! Greenhouse, here we come:)

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

If any of you start to run me a close race I have about 30 rooted cuttings I will run out and pot very quickly. LOL! Gotta go and feed everyone but will give details of how I raise my plants later if anyone wants to know. I water them with a hose once a week so that doesn't take long. I just have to direct the flow to each pot rather than letting it rain on them. The temp. is perfect under there as it is well insulated. I used to have a greenhouse but this is much cheaper to operate and easier also. I use flourescant lights and don't bother with grow lights. I also never turn them off as the constant light never has been a problem in 30 years of doing this. We lived in Alaska for a year and a half and it was light all the time in the summer. things did great. I reasoned that it wasn't necessary to buy timers, etc. and have had great luck with my method. I almost never lose anything. I have lost a very few because of failing to water on time.

Crestedchik, are you saying we might have a problem? NAHHHH!!! We just like plants.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Elena, I would love to hear more when you have time to post about it!!! that would give me room for more :)

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I don't have any! 0!!, Zip!! Boo Hoo! I don't have a greenhouse and live in a trailer house, so I don't have adequate light or room. I'm working on a remedy for that situation though. LOL! I'm hoping by about December 25th I'll have a solution.

Spring Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

102 potted house plants of many varieties in NY. Hope my Eldest daughter keeps them watered as well as my blessed neighbor does 'til he gets home from Chicago.
3 house plants in FL...why keep them in the house its 80 degrees outside??

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Just got done counting. 110 plants in the house. I never would have thought it was so many. No wonder my DH said he can't see out any of the windows. He came home today with this huge square Hydrofarm light that he bought from someone. He hung it up with chains in a corner of my heated porch.Told me the Brugs might flower if they had more light. We put all the cuttings and my two big plants under it and it lights them all.Now he has two empty porch windows he can look out.LOL

I don't think I can count that high :-) Well, I only have two in the house BUT, (and I don't have a greenhouse) my crawl space which is my planting area (it's about 6 feet high) has about 50 under lights, about another 75 outside for winter sowing, and 7 in the garage in front of windows. That number will quadruple (at least) when I get started on seeds at the end of the month. No prize for me :-( vic

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I have about ten in the garage. Waaaaaaah, I want to count the green house!!(houses), and lets see, there is mold in the fridge, moss in the turtle terrarium, greens for the bird cages.........

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

hehehe, I'm with CoCo - only I have three pots (commodes, that is.)

And for REAL pots? One pitiful, neglected little Christmas cactus that I started from cuttings last November. Oh, and I guess I should count the two Amaryllis bulbs, too. But that's it. I don't do houseplants. I have a bad habit of doing IN houseplants, so I stick with stuff I can grow outside. I do great growing stuff from seed though. Go figure.

Umm, I can vouch for Elena. Unless she's taken up some bad habits this summer, everything she grows under her house is legit and legal ;0)

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Tig, I know this is how I got my greenhouse too - self defense for DH, it was him or the plants, lol! I didn't have nearly as many as you to contend with and we keep our house much too hot & dry for them to do well. So anyway, now all I keep inside are about 8 in large pots.
