Morning Glories 2017 #16

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Linda and Helena.
Lovely blooms from Aug Debra, # 3 is really special. Yes surprises will be nice
Love your pretty dark purps Helena, We've had our heat on for 3 or 4 nites now.
A warm up to 80 today and the bottom falls out tomorrow. Temps will be falling'all day.

Gautier, MS

Thanks ladies. Our work will never be done, at least my gardening won't.
My DH likes the cool weather so I have to sneak to turn on the heat in the morning, his got the AC on now. Sunny, a bit windy and just right outside, I think. Still don't like the real cold weather.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I got out tonight and got the last of the large tomatoes and peppers off, one pepper plant and two tomato volunteers, four more i nils i planted that had bloomed, made seeds and still vining, so cant wait to see what we get this winter, since they were all seeeds from you guys to begin with. Garage is s full!
reliving the summer up to vacation.. maybe we missed something.. LOL these are from August 15th , but they are still blooming, as of right now. That will change tomorrow. Summer Phlox, and Dahlia. these pinks were on the patio arch.. the little fugi? on the red ceramic tomato cage.

Wonderful butterfly pics Debra. Love the pretty dahlia and beautiful mg pics too.

Gautier, MS

Love your butterfly pics and beautiful mgs from August. Pretty Dahlia too.
Feel lucky I get swallow tail butterflies here too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I agree, they are beautiful photos.

Gautier, MS

Taking a break, DH said it was 40 degrees outside. Too cold for me to go out and check on what's left outside. I still have tropical plants that are outside. I do miss my mgs booms!
A few pics from 2015.

Below freezing here last night. Helena I hope you get all your tropicals in b4 you have a freeze. Beautiful bloom from 2015. That is the prettiest speckled bloom I;ve ever seen. if you'find your sds to that one, i would love a couple.. I had a speckled this'season but it never opened a single bloom. They would puff out like they were about to open but never actually opened.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jackie, I agree, those blooms are beautiful.

We got down to 38 last night. No frost yet.

Gautier, MS

DH said it was 40 yesterday morning, not sure how low it went today. It feel like as cold but hoping it wasn't. I'm bad haven't got my plants back in gh yet. I'll have to do it today for sure.
Jackie, I think I sent you seeds of that speckled with the white trim back in fall of 2015. I'll check for the seeds, just that I think I didn't label them right. I'm very did-organized, have gone through too many times and misplaced some. I got them from Azuremore, wish he would offer them again.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, I will look thru your sds from Fall of 2015. Mine are still in the envelopes you
mailed them in, so they will be easy to find. The speckled I started were from an old pkt of mine, very disappointed. Theres a chance if I start another sd
from that pkt, it wll turn out just fine, won;t know till I try one or 2..
The strange thing about that vine, the buds didn;t open but theres seed pods on it. I guess the pollinating insects could still get inside the partially opened buds.

Gautier, MS

Hope you find the seeds Jackie. I checked my 2015 seed envies and found 2 envies of speckled blooms but can't guarantee if they are the same with the white trim. I can send you some seeds of what I have. Checked my 2015 pictures from early spring and some blooms don't have the white trim.
I think I had one vine that had one bloom like the pic and one seed that I would like to grow out and see if I can get more seeds from it. That is if I labeled it right and can find it. I also like the blue purple speckled from 2015, will have to look and see about those seeds too. Picture below.

Hi everyone, sorry mia, been moving last minute things in, still had blooms until the night before last, now, its all gone. I will post pics of before and after soon, just got out of bed, can hardly move from my arthur, also stayed up too late trying to find just the right thing for something. I have gotten so weird lately. I think the weather makes me depressed. Hoping your eyes are okay, now, Jackie. ANd Helena I agree with Jackie, the speckled one was absoluty the best of all speckles I have seen. I dug up as many vines as I could and transplanted them, and the one out back ( the weird species) wilted of course, but planted it and cut it off so it may or may not keep going. Our Annual song is here... for all of us who love the Morning Glory..

Beautiful blue speckled bloom too Helena. Sorry your arthur is flared up Debra.
DH has it so painful. Love your beautiful mg poem
and the white nil. no blooms for me'now.
Helena will look for your pretty pinkish red speckled seeds in a few, off to get
fast food.

Gautier, MS

I like your pretty poem Debra and awesome white mg.

Hope you find the pink speckled mg seed Jackie. I'm getting fast food today too.
I moved the rest of my tropical into gh yesterday. This year I don't have as plants in there. My mgs in there are not too happy either.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I love that poem.

Helena, that speckled morning glory is so pretty.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Thanks, it's all frozen and now torn down outside. Had about 25 kids tonight. I have some glorys blooming in the basement in the morning, I cant wait to see them. SO glad I got them in. Hope your Halloween was great and safe.

Helena, I found my pkt with the pink speckled sds in your 2015 pkt. Thank you.
I believe I had started one of these last yr and it was one of the vines I killed with the systemic I'll try again in the spring., no systemic :-)
Lovely blooms Debra from a month ago
We're in the country so no trick or treaters

Gautier, MS

Beautiful blooms from a month ago Debra.

Glad you found the seeds Jackie, I hope they the right ones with the white trim all around.

Only had about 7 kids come for candy. Our street is kind of dark so people don't like to bring kids by. Some year we don't get any, so I was surprised this year.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful blooms Debra.
We had 2 kids last night. In the 21 years we have been here, they were the first to come to the door.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

How strange that this yr you had kids for the 1st time Linda and that
Helena had kids show up when they hadn't been recently. I don;t miss it.
When we lived in town, I would come home from work late, as usual, they would be on my doorstep b4 I could even feed my family not to mention all my pets.
I'm very thankful that its quiet out here on Halloween.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I can't imagine living in town during Halloween. My Sis in Michigan lives in a huge mobile home park, and she gets at least 300 - 400 kids each year. She spends $$$ on candy.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Linda, cant imagine having that many. We used to run out of candy after
about 100 treaters so we would just turn out the lights. lol

Gautier, MS

Our small towns(businesses) have activities even some churches for the kids on Halloween. So glad it's only come down to a few kids coming over. I can't imagine having 300 to 400 kids.
Pictures from 2015. I am soaking a few seeds from 2013.

Helena, gorgeous blooms. I love #'s 2 and 3.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful blooms Helena.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Love that blue , Helena. The girls next door were so very cute!
Kaylynn was a monarch butterfly, and Hadley was wonder woman, and I wore my wonder woman snuggie Joanna had bought me years ago, and she was so thrilled we dressed alike ( like wonder woman) . That little girl is a living miracle. She has been Cancer free for almost a year now. So happy prayers have been answered.
Some blooms inside this am..stayed open all day ..a light turquoise kind of blue..and another white i nil bloom

Lovely blooms in your basement Debra.Happy to hear that Hadley is still
cancer free.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So glad to hear she is cancer free. I can't imagine going through that as a child.

Beaitful blooms Debra.

Gautier, MS

Glad to hear Hadley is cancer free, thank God for answered prayers. Glad is doing good.

Beautiful blooms Debra, glad to see your vines are blooming in your basement garden. My indica has a few blooms high up a tree branch, but its coming up all over the yard too. I think I may have lost my pandy. I'm probably going to garden in the back yard next spring since I cut down some bushes for more sun.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Does anyone have any English ivy cuttings? My son is looking for some. I will pay postage for a box of them.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Yes, I have tons of Ivy, Linda.
mostly rooted. Helena, I think you will love having more room to grow morning glorys.
Hadley is a little behind n school, but she always has such a smile. Jackie, do you still have glorys in the green house?
Have a great day!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Happy for you that you will have all that new space for gardening next yr Helena.
Linda, I used to buy English Ivy in the 6 packs like you would buy Petunia's. They made 2 or 3 of the nicest full hanging baskets and they were hardy to boot..I
finally planted then out in the backyard
My mg's were already looking finished when I took them to the g house Debra. Just trying to ripen a few sds.
Purps and Purple Star

Oops, sorry I double posted # 2 and 4

Pretty pink purpureas and purple star Jackie.

My purps outside are done too, I haven't watered the pots either. Few pots inside gh have a seed or too ripening but the vines are done. A few seedlings I started are still growing. I hope Gypsy Bride makes a few more blooms, and will be surprise if I get any others that made it so far.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful blooms Jackie.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Helena and Linda. Your Gypsy Bride made beautiful blooms. I hope you get a few more blooms from it too Helena. Most of all. I hope you get sds. When I grew it, it had
so much fluff, I couldn;t tell where to pollinate

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Jackie, I hope we get thru this winter looking at new blooms from Helena or Linda, or by looking at blooms from the past. We need someone from the other side of the world to join, I think, to keep year round blooms coming to us. I agree, Helena., Your Gypsy Bride made beautiful blooms.
Here is an English Ivy bloom.

I'll get thru the winter just fine regardless if anyone across the ocean joins.
Helena and I have kept this forum going by ourselves for yrs with an occasional nice comment from Linda K. If I need to see more pics, guess I could always join a Facebook group but I don;t really have the time with my dd so sick,

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

awww, I'm sorry Jackie, I love you and don't need you to join a facebook! Sheese! we have enough pics between us all to share for the next ten years during winter time.
