I recently planted a paperbark maple and I'm beginning to question whether I've planted it at the appropriate depth. I had to remove a fair amount of soil from the trunk of tree after removing the cage and burlap during planting but now I'm wondering if it's too shallow. Do I need to add additional soil to the base of this tree? Thank you in advance for any comments/suggestions!
Root Flare Question
That tree does not appear to be planted too shallow. I would definitely NOT add any soil to the base of the tree.
You could increase the depth of mulch around the tree, but do not pile it against the trunk.
