My clematis went to ground 2 yrs, nothin. This year trying to redig that bed, I have 6 seperately rooted plants with leaves in the ground for 3 more. I will have a new mg bloom on a 4th vine tomorrow, but the other 3 vines give me blooms every day. (Watching for seeds). Tickseeds, ageratums and other natives are blooming if ya look hard. My snapdragons are leafing back out. Has to be the smallest hyacinth bean I have ever grown, but guess it's lucky I stepped off the truck in July and didn't let it die, i know pic is sideways, I didnt trim the shot cuz the cellphone is messing up.

I love the yellow with the bee, Ju, that is a great colorful shot. Your kitty looks serene, and man, is it hot there!
Impressed with your Timex temp gauge, too. :D
I bet you have been working non stop, with the Ponds and bees and now the truck, Gypsy. I was wishing I had a hive for all these dang bees to go to, they are hogging the hummer feeders. Oh well, have not seen one since I've been back.
Kitt, I think I have that same dwarf chinese bean.. LOL... poor thing! Last year it over took the while garden fence, this year I am lucky to see two bloom sprays so far. And so it begins, moving things in , re-arranging a hundred times. This Duranta is so happy it is on it's third flush. Brought in a couple Brugs, and a Hibiscus. *sigh*
I think I am going to have to re think my work station I set up down there for seeds.
Greta saved up all her RX bags for me, and they are so easy to roll up , stick in my hoodie pocket with a marker, and go outside. Gamera wants a banana, but I told her she is getting too fat.

Well, try again since this deleted itself. 2 more MGs in bloom, white with a pink spot, 2 of the folks hanging around the hoja santa (root beer plant). The marigolds are blooming again as well.

I used to have a root beer plant. Trying to keep it away from dogs and children I'd moved it to the property line where my neighbor ran over it with a lawn mower. It did not survive. children all moved away, I could have one now. Is this the one you can really make root beer out of Kitt?

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Debra . I still love gamera , Turtles are so cute ,
Hot weather may finally be over with here , Thank you , thank you , thank you ,

As much as we hate to see it. Has Gamera outgrown her house? maybe that's it. Oh well, another year. Are you getting all settled in your house after the wrecking crew left?

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Gypsi, Hoja santos means sacred leaf. Proper name Piper auriteum. Wont make root beer. Uses are the big heart shaped leaf used to steam food, but not eaten.
Just came in after banking the fire. That pile was 7' hi 3 times today. Been a long day. Those marigolds were volunteers. I also made mini pecan pies, but ran out of the pie shells, will taste todays and adjust as I cook tomorro- may have too much pecan in them...night everyone.

Wow Ju my eyesight must be going, had a heck of a time finding your painted lady.
Sorry Debra, can't help with your I'D. Closest thing I am familiar with is nicotiana but flower isn't right.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Debra , I don't know what the plant is either , I am guessing an herb one I am not familiar with ,

Keith yes , I long center look on the Tithonia , It was really not that good of a pic , There was another Painted Lady and a Hummingbird that flew through the pic at the time , however did show there either ,

Debra, I believe your plant is frostweed. Have a photo of a butterfly on mine, let me see here. the lower leaves look more like yours, and yours is pre flower opening. Oh I think the butterfly is a great purple hairstreak

Thumbnail by Gypsi
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

oh! I hope and pray it is frost weed.

Fort Worth, TX

if it isn't I will try to keep only a very few seeds for you. Would take a picture of the smaller plants with leaves like yours but it is dark out and I am working on the website and moving picture files. It sure looks like it to me.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh I have lots of native frost flower seeds, Thanks for thinking of me. About that rootbeer plant, can I send it to you>?

Fort Worth, TX

Not right now Debra, I'd have to dig a bed to plant it. Too busy

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I'll hang on to it till you are ready. I keep mine in a pot.
small pot- big pot-in ground they get huge, so I keep them at bay..

Oh it's a monarch. I hear the reason we don't have monarchs is its still hot up north so they aren't heading south yet

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Yes several here browsing their way southwest I have seen them as late as November a few seasons past
When they start coming through here in groups of five or more ,you usually are seeing them farther south .
Trying to motivate myself but not getting far with that ..

Oxdrift, Canada

That was a beauty Ju. I learned a lot about monarchs this summer with the experience my daughter and granddaughters shared with me. I know it takes 4 or 5 generations to make the journey from Mexico to here and back but really not sure how far our crop would travel. Do you have any idea whether they would reach as far as where you live. Tennille gave me a couple of milkweed plants and I have my fingers crossed for next year

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Yes the ones you raise there reach here , The last generation we all raise migrate entirely to the south Huge gathering migrates from Canada across Lake Michigan then through the central plains to Texas and Mexico There are smaller permanent population in Florida and Texas

Oxdrift, Canada

Very interesting. Thanks for that Ju.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Keith I forgot about the western Monarch that inhabits California and over winters there
Not the best photo of an odd looking Pearl Crescent

Thumbnail by juhur7
Oxdrift, Canada

Have not seen that one before. Similar to painted lady but definitely odd looking as you say. Think we may get close to a killer frost tonight. Have just had 2 light ones so far . Am ready for a killer as the ďeer have been really diligent this fall so may as well finish it. Have all the cuttings for next year going strong in the house and have started bringing in some roots ie. smaller Cannas that were in pots and the bonfire Begonia. Still have larger Cannas, elephant ears and Dahlia to Do but they are still going strong

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Keith Nice plants those are as you shared and shown us this summer
You have crescent butterflies , they and that one shown are about 1/4 or 1/5 the size of a Painted Lady
My seedlings are just getting going as the weather cools slowly here Warm for a few weeks yet it will be ,
I am not looking forward to cold weather , Of course nights up north are cold to me all year so I suppose your all use to that ,

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Still warm down here in Kansas. The milkweeds are all done except the orange, it is still blooming! My dahlias , morning glorys, gloriosa daiseys are also still blooming. Today I soaped cleaned some plants and brought them in. so many to bring in! Raining here.. watched 4 monarchs and two hummers feeding crazy on the tithonia and zinnias. ( Finally my zinnias!)

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Here are visitors today and Forsythia thinking about reblooming
