Fiber optic grass turning brown

I'm a beginner Gardener with a wonderful patio garden around my small home. Some plants doing great, others struggle. My fiber optics are turning brown despite getting ample water. The weather has been very hot, they get direct sun for about three hours, otherwise indirect light. Some are in the ground, some in pots, some doing better than others. Thoughts appreciated!
More on other plants later - but many, such as gardenias, Nandina and society garlic are doing well.
