Do you believe in Santa ?

Plymouth, MI(Zone 6a)

I reeeeeeeeeally do! All those cookies and milk missing on Christmas morning. He is a hard working guy thats for sure. Wonder if he has a garden?

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

Always have, always will. When the girls got older, we went through a Spirit of Giving phase, but when they got older still, we were back to Santa. Everybody gets stockings and there are always gifts wrapped in paper no one has seen before. A the carrots for the reindeer disappear like majic! Of course, Stan has always said that Santa can't come until he gets his cows milked...

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

Well what a silly question......Of course I do! Doesn't everyone?????????? hehe

YOur parents never told you the truth about santa?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh, the secret "SANTA" stocking paper! LOL How well I know that one. I truly hope there is a Santa and I would love to have his address! Every year he brings the one, single most wanted present to my kids and he gets to be the swell guy, whilst I only give the second and third best presents and the 'needed' items. I need to send Santa the bill for the best presents! LOL He gets the credit and I get the bill. Hmmmm..... I hope he listens when I wish. I have been 'pretty' good this year. :O)

I never believed in him til I found out he was a DGer.

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 5a)

Well, since I live in a suburb of Colorado Springs where NORAD is located I do. See, every year on Christmas Eve they keep track of Santa on their radar screens. So since the government keeps track of him on their radar screens their must be a Santa Claus!:D

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Actually, Santa is a scientist, maybe the greatest and the best kept secret. You see, he was the first to clone himself. It happened many generations ago, when he had a few aging reindeer and needed to find a humane way to replace them. He took cells from each because he couldn't spare them long enough to breed them and they needed to have certain traits he could depend on: ability to fly, tolerance to a wide range of weather conditions, resistance to all germs, willingness to be team workers without ego problems, tough stomachs which could assimilate all manner of odd treats in a single day/night. Mrs. Claus kept things going while he went about the traditional business of Christmas, of course, so she must be credited with at least half of the success of the experiment. After a decent period, a new group of reindeer emerged, and they were just like the originals, who were grateful for a chance to take a year's sabbatical. In time, the advances made by modern scientists resulted in people living much longer, so the population grew and Santa had trouble keeping up with his route in his old age. Mrs. Santa suggested he use the same solution they had used for aging reindeer, so they set up some little dishes in the lab and began working on it. Soon, with the loving care lavished on them by Mrs. Claus, these little cells began to mature into actual living beings, which they named Santa Clones. Mr. and Mrs. Claus were delighted, but one night something happened and the next morning one Santa Clone was missing from his special cubicle. When the time came for the sleighs to take to the skies, one was still without a driver, so the presents were divided among the remaining sleighs and off they went to bring smiles to the faces of children everywhere, young and old. As the last sleigh lifted off the snowy launch pad, a happy Santa Clone turned to Mrs. Claus and said, "Merry Christmas to you, my dear, now let's rock!"

I KNOW there is a Santa and he works in mysterious ways.Last year my niece took a toy to her Christmas exchange at school. The rules were that no one could spend more than 4 dollars. My sister took her to a Close Out store and they picked a toy off the shelf.Normally 15 dollars and now 3.Great toy and super price. Well when Cassidy was asked what she wanted for Christmas, she replied that she wanted a toy just like she took to school.Nothing else...just that toy.It was all that child talked about. We searched high and low..called every store that might have one.No Toy. We had enlisted everyone we knew all across the country...still no toy. Christmas Eve came and we had given up. We were at our business and were having a new air compressor hooked up that morning. They needed some fittings from the hardware store and so I was dispatched to get them. I was walking down the between the merchandise to get to the compressor fittings and there on the shelf was THREE of these elusive toys!!They were all different versions of the same little doll and not knowing which one that she wanted..I just bought them all!!
I was overjoyed to say the least, but when I called my sister to tell her the news, she said that she would NEVER doubt that there was a Santa ever again. We gave all the dolls to Cassidy and she proclaimed that she must have been extra good to deserve 3 of them.

And that is my Santa story. I believe...don't you?

Plymouth, MI(Zone 6a)

I KNEW there were other believers!!!!!! What a gteat story... That Santa sure works in mysterious ways!

Melody, that is the best santa story I've heard for a long time. It's funny how sometimes things work out if they are meant to be.

Where is Santa when lots of children get nothing on Xmas?

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

And how do you explain to poor children that the same kids who have everything all year come back to school after the holidays with still more bounty? It has always been a problem, one I felt helpless to solve as a single parent. I think it's one of the opportunities we have to teach children about sharing and giving when they are still very young. It also teaches them life isn't necessarily fair, and rewards aren't always obvious. If begun early enough, they can learn the wonderful feeling we get when we know we did a good thing and someone benefitted from our acts. But the time when this is effective is a short window of time in between the narcissism of babyhood and the cynicism of adolescence or teen years. It's a tough time for parents, who want to teach the right lessons at the same time they want to make their children happy.

Nanaimo, BC(Zone 8b)

That would be US out there gathering toys in every village after all it takes a village to raise a child, toy runs everywhere, they do help, so get those toys in there time is running out.

Plymouth, MI(Zone 6a)

My husband and daughter are collecting for The Goodfellows this coming Saturday.....They have been doing this for 20 years. My sister and I collect stuffed animals, toys and dolls. They go to childrens hospital..Everyone of us can do something, I don't care what our position or social status is. Do what you can but do something. It won't solve the whole problem but its a start! Imaseedpicker there is no easy answer to your Question.

(Zone 8a)

Amen...Meems!
I didn't mean to be the grinch who stole xmas and I know your intentions was well founded and I guess I have in the last few days been in a terrible slump, a long story not to be reported...

I do still believe in Santa and his magical ways that I instill in my Grandchildren!

Merry Xmas to all!

Ten years ago, while living in a truck or touring(nice word for hauling freight, lol) to all the lower 48 and Canada,I organized a"TOY BOX FROM SANTA" I called far and wide for the families on the road to speak to the t-stop managers to start a designated area in the fuel stops' Everyone was delighted to help those in need' Many of us women do needlework, crafts while riding or waiting for our next loads' We used to always stop in Nashville(Trinity)to fuel and stretch. Friendships sparked and we were well on our way to making many little ones happy' The fella we met at the flea market sold socks, toys, candy' His face beamed when I told him what we families were going to do' Thus a new tradition began and is still providing smiles for everyone at Christmas' We also still carry decorations and decorate trees along the highways for strangers and leave gifts'I miss being out there this time of year' Went on more than I should but had to share tonight' Peace Sis'

Santa, The Easter Bunny, Fairies,Pixies, Elves, Sprites,Leprechauns, witches and Goblins....They are all real in an imaginative mind! As for those children who see others come back to school with new toys and clothes when they have nothing...well some of them learn through the generosity of others that these holiday spirits are indeed real. And the really lucky child gets to discover the thrill of giving without the expectation of getting in return.
When I was 7 I recieved a beautiful doll for Christmas. That afternoon I saw my friend Lisa outside and she had not gotten anything for Christmas. I asked my mom why Santa hadn't gone to see Lisa and mom said that because Lisa's Daddy died a few months before, Santa probably thought they were still in mourning. I went to my room and wrapped up the doll and ran to my friend to give it to her. I told her santa left it at my house by mistake. Lisa smiled so big that I can still feel the glow of it after all these years. Is there a Santa? You bet there is! And sometimes, If we care to be, we can be him! My mother was furious about the doll and was going to "march over there and get it" But my dad stopped her. You see, Mom never believed in anything that was "Silly" but Dad knew that from that day on I would know the truth....Santa is as real as I make him.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, Zany, you made me cry! What a wonderful story, at just the right time. Girl, I could just hug you.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))) back at you! and a big :) too!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

This is such a neat thread! My friend told us that when she was a kid, Santa always gave the coolest gifts, while her parents gave really cruddy ones. She said they'll talk about Santa with their son, but THEY want to get credit for the good stuff they worked hard to get him! LOL!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

But of course I believe in Santa!! Why do you think we had a brick chimney built into our house :-)

Plymouth, MI(Zone 6a)

I think there is another side to that Zany Zany! Thats great. We could make a movie out of that. Wonder who would star as you.
Santa was on TV this morning. He looked tired guess he is really busy. I have to find his cookie dish.

Allen Park, MI(Zone 6a)

My son-in-law and daughter started a great tradition when mu grandaughter was 2. They have grandaughter choose one of her gifts and donate it to "the poor children".
I think this is a great way to instill "giving" in a young child.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Zany, you made me cry too! Not that it is that hard lately, but you sure did it today. :) What a sweetie. You probably gave that little girl something to believe in for all the years of her life.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

How come I missed Zany's story.......all that rush this morning I suppose!! Under that cheeky exterior we know there's a heart of gold. Did you ever see her again Zany??

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

a cheeky monkey sweetie..go figure (((zany)))

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

lol!!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Zany! Hugs and Kisses to you girlfriend! You learned at a young age what it's all about. I am so proud of you and I commend your Dad for letting you do what you wanted to do. It came from the heart, and that is what Christmas is all about.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

A fat jolly man that gives gifts at Christmas time and eats cookies and drinks milk. I have to believe In Santa heck I am Santa. At least for gardenwife.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, boy, do I! I don't exactly like shopping anyway, but I dread Christmas shopping. Well, I found a different Santa here!!! I needed to get a lot of nice, special things for a little cost, and don't have the energy to trek all over town looking for the right thing. FLOWOX to the rescue! We have worked out a deal, whereby she works up designs for my printer, at a rate I think is a real bargain, with personalization and all, and I can print note papers, seed packets, letter paper, memo pads, whatever I would like to have for my friends and family, and I can do it all without leaving home. I will be printing gifts from her pretty designs for months to come, but the main thing right now is that I can do so much Christmas shopping comfortably, and at a good rate. The woman is a curb service improved version of Hallmark. Thanks, Flowox, you have saved the season! And all in a short time, with a cheerful attitude to boot. Can't usually get that in stores at this season, and can't ever get it in a hurry.
