Hi All,
Maybe this is something simple, but my mom gave me an African Violet start from her mature plant, which she got from her mother. It was doing great in one apartment, and grew to be pretty big from just one leaf. Then I had to move. My new condo has zero natural light, so the violet is now in my office, where it receives plenty of indirect light from a southwest facing window. It just hasn't been happy at all since the move. Might this be a fertilizer issue? I don't think it's possible I've been watering it too much, but I'll try anything! I'd rather not lose the plant, as it has some meaning to me.
Thanks for looking!
African Violet leafs turning nearly white?
I have some that are indoors and get very little light and are doing ok. One thing, prune those dead and dying leaves! I think I see the dirt is dry which means I doubt you are overwatering but it does look old. You might want to get some african violet soil, presoak it as the stuff does NOT like to hold water at first and can be annoying and replant them in separate smaller pots or back intot he same pot. You can find small clay and ceramic pots at Menards and im assuming the competitors(home depot, Lowe's, whatever mega home improvement store you have) or Walmart for just plain clay pots. Here are some of mine and the only ones with lighter leaves are in direct sunlight, you can also see the different pots I use and dont have problems. There is also a post a couple posts down about african violets that might give you some insight.
