Morning Glories 2017 # 07

Gautier, MS

Thanks Linda and Jackie.

Jackie, I get surprised by some of my blooms. Like that #3 on first set, the label said it was supposed to be a baby blue reverse tube, but it turned out light lavender. Don't know what to expect when they do that. But I'm very happy to have a few of them!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, its a beautiful lavender and I love that wide white border.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Happy Fathers Day, y'all. Joe had a good one. I want to say that the second row is my fav, Helena especially the third one. Outstanding!
Here is my caudex mg tree, can't remember which name.. and then the wild pink mg from Buffalo, NY, and other things.

Beautiful blooms Helena.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Doesn't matter if they're repeats Helena. Just as lovely today as they
were the 1st day. :-)
I need to pot up mg's into bigger pots today but so hot here, I;m going to
work on the kitchen floor with newspapers spread out. Least I'll be in the a/c.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

now u are talking Jackie, I do a lot of work in the basement instead of outside. It's always cool down there and no one see's my mess.
Helena is the last bloom a star of india? they are all so large and pretty.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

t does look like a SOI Debra. Also theres a Royal Robe which comes out of Star of India/SOI Been so long since I;ve seen Royal Robe, can;t remember exactly what it looks like.

Gautier, MS

Thanks ladies. It does resemble SOI Debra, I'm only not sure b/c the actual color was purple. That would make it Royal Robe maybe. If I find seeds of that one I think I'll start it.
Raining here but still had a few blooms. Glad you are potting your mgs where it's cool and better to work at Jackie.

Glad you;re pandy is about to bloom Debra.

Gautier, MS

Thanks ladies. I want to see your pandy blooms too Debra.

Because of all the rain we had, I only took one pic this morning. The bloom is from one your seeds Debra, a white bloom with a lavender specks here and there.

Very pretty bloom Helena. Seems like you are getting lots of rain.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

A lovely bloom Helena, We've had lots of rain here too
and calling for a lot Thur and Friday from this newest hurricane.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Linda and Jackie. It just won't stop raining here!
Sorry you are getting lots of rain too Jackie.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

The folks in Alabama and Louisiana have been hit really hard. Hope their flooding
lets up soon.

Gautier, MS

I think the whole Gulf Coast has had way too much rain, real bad weather too. They are still predicting rain here for next two days but don't know about the coming week.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We saw tornado warning on the news, please stay safe.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

I haven't been watching the path of Cindy but I know it hit the Gulf coast hard
spawning bad storms.
Helena, are you flooded?

Gautier, MS

Jackie, we had several waterspouts that came into land and caused damage in Biloxi and Pascagoula where my sons live, they say a small tornado. My house is on a small hill so there flooding in the ditches all over town. Of coarse there's always low areas that get the worse flooding in every town here.
My prettiest bloom this morning maybe there's still hope that this bloom will turn into baby blue reverse tube. The solid color on Congo bloom was impressive, very dark.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Linda and Jackie. The sun did come out a bit here too Jackie. Hope we can dry out a bit.
Hope to see more of that first bloom Jackie.

Love those Aogakiyama X Mauve Splash blooms Jackie. The pretty pink and blue blooms look great. Love your Plum Surprise from 2015.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Linda and Helena.
Helena, I found a different pkt of sds marked as seeds from the'
bloom that was right by the pretty cross. So getting ready to start
a seed or 2 to see if it might be sds from the 1st or 2nd bloom above.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

we have been cooler, dry and will need rain soon. SO far I have been using my rain barrel water so I am glad I have them. Helena, Is that bloom a purp or i nil?
Today for some reason I fell backwards and couldn't get up while out in the dog run... I tried to get up but it hurt, then I saw Joe thru the Elderberry trees in the yard, so I called for him. When he got me up, I couldn't stand straight and he got me into the house and I went to the chair and fell asleep. I have no clue what that was, but I am fine now it seems. Back to Morning glories.... here is my I carnea..
#2 the arch on the patio has three hanging pots of mgs, but I am going to cut them off since the other vines are climbing that are in ground, that way I can bring the baskets in when it turns cold, and I'll leave them on ground in the bean patch when Joe is done with it which is not for awhile I think. He picked another half bushel in two days.#3 Pandy bloomed it's first bloom, and I didn't get a pic of it cuz of the fall. But, as you can see it is about to.. it is rambling over the make shift trellis and is covering the wild black berry which is loaded. I have picked a quart so far and we enjoy them on vanilla ice cream and in salads.

Debra, I think you need to report that episode to your Primary Dr.
You might have got dizzy and fell, Sometimes our heart meds can make us dizzy.
I cut down our wild blackberries, they come up all over our yard. I;m tired of them'cutting my arms to pieces.
Enjoyed your pics,

Gautier, MS

Debra, I agree with Jackie. Hope you tell your dr. about it. Glad Joe was there to help you too.
Your garden looks great. Wish I could send our rain to you. It rained heavy this morning, I haven't even gone out yet. Might not have any blooms either.
That blue bloom from Congo is a purpurea.
Jackie, the blackberry vines do the same to me. But no matter how many I pull more come up. Actually part of my back yard is being taken over by them. I did see my turtle friend eat the berries on one of the visits.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debra, I agree with everyone else, please tell your Dr.
No berries here, I think hubby would leave if I planted berries. We have enough thorny things here.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yoiu are so right Linda, lol
Helena,. we had lots of rain yesterday when I thought ours was over,
Worried I will lose plants from too much rain.
The berries are taking over here too, even in my dog yards
I hope your blooms return tomorrow Helena.
Some of my newest seedlings are so weak and spindly, don;t know if they
will do or not.
Pandy, Plumeria,Yellow Banana, still not big enough to bloom
daylily with a pink tint which I didn;t capture here

Love your pretty blooms Jackie. They all look great, wish my banana looked as good as yours. Bet that Plumeria has a nice scent.
Wish I had dragged a few of the pots to the patio. The sun is out now at least for awhile.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, wish I had at least a lean to in the backyard. Every time it stormed, I could drag my plants under it. This time,. the pots were so heavy, I couldn;t pick some of them up,
My banana looks better with all that rain.
This pink plummie has a very lite sweet scent.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jackie, those blooms are beautiful.

Gautier, MS

I'm glad you got those pretty blooms Jackie, the nice scent makes it even better. I know what you mean about the heavy pots. This my problem was solved when my older son and his wife gave me a dolly specially for carrying pots and heavy bags of soil. I love it.
So nice to see the sun this morning and a few nice mg blooms.
