Today I peeled the Luffa from you. I just let it dry and it was easy to peel, even without the soaking. I got 177 seeds, Wow! I will bleach it and give half to each of my kids with a few seeds for Christmas, I know they will be thrilled. LOL! This is a fun thing - thanks so much. Can't wait til next year to grow my own.
Hey Mollybee, I peeled it!!
did yours get totally dry? was it brown? mine's still green and I'm thinking it's not going to dry:(
Hi Tig - yes, it finally got brown all over and crispy - so I just started peeling. Be sure the seeds are ratteling when you shake it. When I got to the stem end, it popped off easily and all the seeds started to fall out, so do it over a pan or towel to catch them. I cut mine in half at this point because some of the seeds were stuck and I had to reach in with a pencil to pry them loose.
Wonderful news Azalea!! I am soo happy for you, I really think you will enjoy growing them next year. I thought they were alot of fun, just watching them get bigger and bigger it was soo neat! Be sure to keep me informed k?
tiG, Don't loose hope, it will dry out I promise!! Seems like it will take 4ever, but it will be ready to peel before ya know it.
