Does anyone know firsthand how to kill this weed? It has run amok in my backyard, which was once Floratam/St. Augustine - there is very little grass left now. I've tried a couple of weed killers that are supposed to kill common chickweed, but they don't seem to phase this miserable plant. I have not run across any product that specifically mentions tropical chickweed. I will eventually have to re-sod the backyard, but want to kill this stuff so that I don't accidently transfer it to my front yard in the meantime. Thanks!
How to kill Drymaria cordata (tropical chickweed)
Follow up - Baking soda works on this weed, just like it does crabgrass. However, it is not good for the soil. So, I went to Lowes and was told to 1.) try Round Up for lawns, and 2.) go to a DIY Pest Control store nearby me in Casselberry, FL that sells lawn products as well. A product called Asulox is supposed to work like baking soda but is less harmful to the soil. The only problem is, it is only sold in a 2 1/2 gallon concentrate for $350.00 (yes, $350.00). OMG!! Anyone know if there is a way to buy this product in a much smaller quantity?
Just in case anyone wants to know - Round Up For Lawns killed this weed (it took nearly two weeks). Although I may have sprayed it a little heavier than recommended, it did not kill what little was left of my Floratam that was intermixed with it.
