Cucumber \'Perfection\' Plants
This is called seedling "damping off". It is due to any combination of too wet, too cool or poor air circulation and can be caused by a variety of plant pathogens. Start again using fresh seedling mix. Water from below and make sure soil is able to slightly dry each day.
thanks
Some vegetables do better when planted from seed and not transplanted plugs. Cucumbers, squashes and pumpkins have fragile tap roots that don't like being disturbed. Those seeds usually germinate within a week.and grow rapidly. Try growing from seed in a peat pot which can be placed directly into the ground or a permanent container.
It looks like you live in a very lovely area. Wales, yes? Wet and cool though, I bet.
