It does look like cilantro, don't remember planting
Plant Propagation - the Basics, February 2017
The joys of aging. We have moe surprises every day!!!
I really don't remember planting the seed but I did have a cilantro plant in the ground near some pots. I think it planted for me. funny thing, I have the stuff coming up in the onion bed 25 feet away
Gypsi Pretty bloom time and green up ,, Here all is slow to happen ,
Have any of you had experience with starting begonia tubers? I looked at my tubers I over wintered, and they all have several sprouts about 4 inches long. Now what? Do I break those off, plant them that way, or??? Don't know what to do with them. Thanks for any help. Jen
Hi Jen,
I have been overwintering one type of begonia tuber for several years with so far 100% success but wouldn't consider myself any kind of expert. I can only tell you what has worked for me. I will be pulling mine out of storage on Friday. Mine vary from year to year as to how much growth they have upon opening them up but usually les than 4". I have never cut anything off initially but sometimes I snip some of those straggly ones off later once I get sturdier shoots showing. I don't put mine in soil right away. I soak the tuber for an hour or so and then put them in a low glass cake pan under flourescent lights well way from any window light. I mist them with a spray bottle of melted snow water (or probably rain water in your area) for close to a month in the house and then in late March when they have healthy roots and shoots showing they get potted into a soilless Promix and get moved to the greenhouse. Mine I believe are called Bonfire and the tubers are huge. I have to reduce the size of the tuber every fall or they wouldn't fit in the pots I plant them in any more. The cuts I make to do that all heal over while they are stored overwinter in dry peat moss.
Shown solitary in first shot below and in mixed basket in the second. The other begonia in the mixed basket is not a tuber. The one with speckled leaves is Gryphon. I used to start it from seed but is very slow so lately I have been buying it in the greenhouse as about a 4-6" plant
Hope this is somewhat helpful
I have never seen a begonia like that. the one with the red flowers? (only begonias I see are at home depot and are wax leaf)
I agree that red Begonia is an amazing looking plant , You say Begonia here and you usually get the cross types , mostly yellow ,,
I was playing with projects as to cold and windy out for much . I did get some onions for dinner from the garden today though , peas are sprouted , beets are growing slowly .. Most of my so called garden is about to be mulch piles at the back , Poor choices , couple of re -diggings ,not by me or my fault , have me failing too , too often ,, Time to re-set and re-do all that is possible ,
Photo 1 is from 2007 approx .. no blades on spinner , did not finish as was having other difficulties at the time, it was still together until today though .
Photo's 2,3,&4 show the newest , The food processor plate will have a square iron blade holder under and held by the cap screw , Also not shown is the locking nut , other blade , . It will be assembled in the can ,shown in pic 1 and will be driven by a socket attached to the lower shaft in , run by a drill ,,
Almost all steel ..those two plastic fittings are all that is not so far , The can and attachments will be metal
None of this has to with the previous up above before , with that one I keep forgetting to hex tighten the shaft bearing ( made it bounce everywhere in the short test ,,
Pretty Nifty work there Ju. I'm going to start a March thread, then post a link.
Ok, we are now here http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1438666/

I will copy your instructions and try them. I don't do Bonfire 'cause they sell huge plans of those for $5 every year. I have stared Gypon from seed and will try to post a picture of it. Thanks keith

Lol, nice curb though...it's better than what I see in my Village. Plant #1 could be Parsley? I like the fence too, it looks higher than 6'.
