This is a small Blue Star from blue's sds. Less than a 2 inch bloom as all of my winter blooms have been. This is a dark purple and very pretty. Just wish it hadn;t been stunted.

Still pretty and nice bloom Jackie. I need to spray my bloom too. What I saw on salvias was mealy bugs.
I can't wait to have my mgs blooming and getting up early each morning to see them.
Only reason that I would want to do that, checking them the evening before so I don't miss any helps too. Ready for Spring!
i never thought about listerine. I have had aphids in the basement! Love that you have blooms, Jackie., Can't wait to see some more from both of you.
Thanks Helena and Debra. My blooms so tiny, just better than no blooms
at all.
The listerine is amazing, taking down the whiteflies with 1 or 2 sprays.
Debra, I turn the plant upside down to spray from the undersides.
You could try it on the aphids to see what it does.
I use alcohol on a Q tip for the mealy bugs Helena.
Pretty blooms from the past. Tony

Beautiful blooms Tony.
I have heard about alcohol for mealy bugs Jackie and have used it on them from time to time.
Listerine does not burn the plants?
Very nice blooms everyone.
Linda, I have not had it burn my plants. Course, I;m not soaking the plant.I;m hitting the whiteflies mostly. When I pick up the plant, the whiteflies fly up and off of the lvs for a few seconds, thats when I zap em with the spray. That just takes em right out,
immobilizing them. In a couple of days, I'll spray again, trying to be sure I got all of them. This is so much better than messing with sticky traps.
Sticky traps don't discriminate, they catch both good and bad insects. I won't use them. I sprayed 4 of my salvias yesterday and got the mealy bugs off with the water hose sprayer. If I need to I'll do it again.
Yesterday was a good day for me, I transplanted my mgs seedlings that looked healthy with strong stems and lots of roots into gallon pots. I ran out of Styrofoam cups. I also got 13 higes seedlings into their cups. I'm looking forward to see what I get when they bloom. Hoping for lots of different blooms this season.
Helena, I had forgot that is the very reason I had quit using the sticky's..Haven't used them for over 5 or 6 yrs now.
Sounds like you did get a lot done. I transplanted 5 plants into bigger pots.
Been sick with a bad cold for the last week and a half but getting over it finally
otherwise I could have got a lot more done. Was a beautiful day here yesterday but the temp is falling today, back to more seasonal weather :-(
Hope you get some lovely hige blooms. The only one i've been able to do lately is'

Pretty blooms Jackie. I'm soaking more seeds. My seedlings inside are doing great. I think I'm giving them a good start growing them inside under lights until they start taking off. Some look like they already need to be in bigger pots.
Sorry to hear about your cold Jackie but I had one too and am still not completely over it yet. It's this weather, warm for a couple of days then cold again. The plants are confused too. Azeleas are blooming here. Hope you feel better.
Very pretty blooms Jackie.
I hope everyone gets rid of the crud soon. It sure has been around all over the place.
wow some really beautiful blooms everyone. I will try the Listerine. We went and got Joanna for the week and both my daughters have been here and keeping me busy. Love to hear about vines growing, can't wait for blooms from them all. I just sprayed with Windex and rain water , we will see what that does until I get some Listerine. I wish I could send you all the stryo-foam cups that get thrown away here, Helena, Hundreds a day. I bring a few home each week. no place to store as many as gets thrown into the recycle bins. That Star bucks machine gets used about two hundred times a day at my work place, which by the way I am now officially semi retired, they have reduced my pay and hours both. Haven't figured out how I am gonna do that yet, but I'll figure it out. Meanwhile it is gently misting, wish it would RAIN! Get well soon - Jackie, sorry to hear of you that being sick.
Thanks ladies.
Helena, I'm sure its the changing weather. Not to mention I was run down from the surgery, not taking my vit C and other herbs. Hope you get over yours completely too. i do feel a little better today.
Lots of people sick here too Linda
Deb, the listerine, use the generic, is great for the white flies. Let us know how it works on the aphids if you try it on them. It was not as effective on spider mites
for me so I just use it for the white flies.
Deb, sorry for what your employer has done to you. Apparently they don;t care about their people. Praying you find a way to cope with this set back,.
Sorry to hear what your employers are doing Debra. Hang in there. I think you only have a short time before you retire?
Do any of you remember Jo, Roadrunner from DG? She passed away yesterday. Her heart stopped, and they could not revive her.
This is her facebook page.
