Tutorial /10th Annual dg Christmas Workshop \"lantern\"

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Here are mine Betty. I went to JoAnn's as I needed one more wreath, They were 70% Off but there was just one of each of these. I really like the poinsettia, wish they would have had two.
It'll be fun to see who speaks up for these.

Great job Karen. I like the stain. Poinsettier leaves look wonderful and I like the silver as well. Thinking I am doing mine in blue.....

Looks nice Karen, love how everyone gets creative with their projects..did you have trouble putting together?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

No trouble at all Betty. I did use hot glue for the top onto the jar, that helped. Hubby drove the screws while I held it all in place. I'm not good with things mechanical, I've always said they hate me with the exception of my sewing machines. I can pretty well take them apart and put back together and they work.
Speaking of which, my sewing area is all together now. It's not perfect but I do actually have a bit more room which is very nice. Waiting on the mail now for a quilt I have to put the binding on for a presentation on Dec. 27th. Should have it tomorrow, was mailed last Fri.

wow those are beautiful!
I like the blue color that really made it pop

Karen, rather than glue you could have used one of those glue on units the put at bottom of chair pad so the jar can be removed should you have to remove the lights..
Was nice having 2nd pair of hands
Smiling, funny we are so able to take sewing machines apart. Lol

The jar can be removed, I just glued the top part to the bottom of the jar. Undo screws and it will open right up.

Very pretty! I love the blue - are your jars blue or just the lights?

I might need something to do Christmas day, so I can play then. I wish I'd been able to start sooner, but there's always some craziness in the way.

Hope everyone is enjoying the season. :)

Both lanterns have new homes. I just set them around and who ever likes them gets them.

Betty, Sorry that I haven't had a chance to work on my lantern, It has been crazy here, I thought I might be able to get it done before Christmas, but alas, it was not meant to be. I had several projects that I wanted to do and couldn't...So as you suggested I will make it a Spring project.

Good for you....

I'm thinking seeing as I bought all the greenery, got the fairy lights for all the projects and I can easily get the wood we just might do it earlier this year

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Like in the fall before there are slippery roads. That is why Denise and I haven't gotten together to do ours. Maybe later this week if the weather holds.....

Yes maybe in October, seeing I have most of what I need to do up kits..should have looked for the little decorative piece though, perhaps if I take mom to Buffalo I will look then it's just the wood.

What I do want to do though is pick up several flat rate boxes so I know some dimentions

Went out shopping again and bought the little decorative pieces for the 11th Annual Christmas workshop..think I have everything now, just need wood playned and cut

You are getting me very excited and I haven't even been able to do this year's project. If my friend can't get up here soon, I'm going to do one and mail her the other one with some instructions!!!!!

Betty I love all the little figures you bought...gotta love that after Christmas sales.

Some of my threads don't always show someone has added to it so trout I'd drop in..

Liz's mom wanted a lantern, seeing I'm going to Buffalo Saturday, health weather permitting I bought some wood and cut more lanterns out, what a mess in the cutting room..seeing as I was making a mess cut out 3 for me lol ..

will go downstairs and finish the sanding handles later and clean up, tomorrow I can pack the pieces up..so Liz if you happen to drop in, package on its way.

Found a wooden Easter bunny and thought Drats we should have had an Easter decoration workshop But thought not, so many didn't have time to do the Christmas one yet.

My friends will be driving back from Florida soon, I will have to remind them all my greenery. For Christmas 2017 needs to come home with them..Lordy, can't remember what I did with all those lights and figures.

thank you betty

Anyone remember who asked how to get to the addresses of members? I got a reply back:
Hi Patricia,

I had to stop and think about where we tucked it away - it's only visible to subscribers, and it's under "Extras" which is only found on Guides and Information:
http://davesgarden.com/extras.php

Happy Gardening,
Terry
