Tutorial /10th Annual dg Christmas Workshop \"lantern\"

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy to see you Karen. Family always picks me up too.....

Got some of our Christmas decorations out yesterday. It is so great this year to be able to have space and be able to decorate. We have a tree again!!!!! The last three Christmas' have been kind of sad until Christmas day when we were with the family. I love to watch Norm as he does most of it now. He is like a little kid again.... Big smile on my face to see him like that......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahhh, wonderful that you get to decorate and even more so that Norm enjoys doing it..Roger would go on and on and on about all the Christmas decor but then when someone came in he'd give them the grand tour. Lol

Hooe you will share photo 's as well as the rest of you..so enjoy that part of Christmas..

People ask why I decorate so much when it's only for a few..do it for ME, gives me the homey feeling.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

LOL... why do we do ANYTHING? Because one way or another it gives us pleasure. Our own pleasure of seeing the beauty, maybe that OTHERS enjoy seeing it.

I had one sad Christmas with no tree. I was in such a funk over having to be on-call for both the office Christmas party AND Christmas day I just couldn't seem to get it together. I am so grateful to not be working weekends, nights or holidays. No matter that I earn a lot less money, I have my LIFE back. I never have to miss another wedding, party or holiday get together unless I want to!

Karen, got payment today, marked your name off as paid..

Pat, few years after Roger died (New Years day) I didn't decorate, actually gave away about 15 totes..never wanted to celebrate again, but as the years went buy felt I had lost a lot of myself so started collecting and decorating again..

Poor hands are pain'ing like crazy, time to take the wax dip machine out and use it..need to be in Santa's workshop so hoping it does the trick

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, maybe you need a lightweight pair of gloves to keep them warm?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh good Betty. I need to get started on my lantern. I love my wax dip, it's so comforting to my achy hands.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Really does help, just never think of it as its put away so will make a point of leaving it out..think I might need more wax, should look at Walmart when I go tomorrow.
It's just Sooo damp, everyone I talk too is aching beyond reason

Don't see anyone doing the project, perhaps it's not to anyone's liking as usually a week after mailing all are almost done

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Working on mine now. Waiting for paint to dry.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Haven't started yet, need to get some sewing done. Oh Yeah and find my paint stuff....it was in my sewing room could be anywhere by now.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

"could be anywhere now"... boy can I relate to that! LOL

Tonight I will finish decorating the fireplace mantel and buffet and call it quits for decorating. I have ONE more wreath I haven't started, I'll do that another day. Tree is up at home, I got all 40 Christmas stockings up at work.

I hope to get at least 6 sets of doll hair washed, conditioned and set tonight before bed so I'd better get cracking!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I have started PT to strengthen up my legs and back. Right now it is two days a week here at home. Now that I know what days it will be, I will call my friend and we can set a date. I'm thinking next Wed would be great!!!!! I look at all these parts every day and want to dive right in but I asked her to do the second one so I must wait....
But I am so looking forward to it Betty!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My lanterns are almost done. I need to find some sandpaper, another string of lights, and something for decorations.
I loved doing this project Betty.
Thanks for all you do for us.

I JUST "LOVE" THIS NEW ENGLAND WEATHER!!!!! NOT. Three times my friend and I have had to change our craft day due to the storms. We are playing it by ear now. She is very leary of driving when the roads may be icy. But we will get them done....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stormy here today as well, amazed ann/June/pat came to visit

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Just got call that my friend won't be here for craft day. She is coming down with something and refuses to pass it on to me. I'm sad we won't be crafting today but love her for her concern.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahhh so hope she would have made it!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Me too Betty. I have had everything on my kitchen table for two weeks now!!! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Odd that nobody else other than lindakay made theirs..😒

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Aww don't be sad Betty. We will all finish them at some point.
We have a real estate lady who wants us to pack up our house so it looks like no one lives here. She thinks we should hire a stager.. Not happening.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't blame you..you gotta live, people must know that when viewing

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't look at people's stuff when house hunting. I imagine how my stuff will fit & look there.

Love seeing Santa's workshop as busy as mine

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wondering is any more lanterns get made

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well gals, call me crazy
Been shopping for supplies 2017
Thought we might do it earlier next year..didn't find fairy lights at a reasonable cost, we looked online, might order them, still on lookout for little decorative piece for centre, will be on lookout..with all the strands, think 6 or 7, I should have enough greenery for 30-35, perhaps more
Bet you are shaking your head right?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Can't wait to see what the project is.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Mine are all stained and ready to assemble. Need to go get another small garland. Had a light string so all set there.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are not painting yours Karen?

Lindakay, just can't get a good picture that shows how pretty it actually is..will have to play with camera before putting it away

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We are not "shaking our heads" we are NODDING our heads and saying "YES!!!"

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

That's pretty Betty. Does it have lights too? I had stain already, for me it's easier to use.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, that is pretty.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I so love it Betty.
I know I am really late with my lantern. My friend is afraid to drive when the roads get icy and I don't blame her a bit. We have had snow, melt, freeze over and over for the last two weeks. Even if it waits until after Christmas, we will still have them... I will post when we finally get to do them..... I really want to wait for her to be able to do them together.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Then buy a spring wreath Barb and you can have them out all winter/spring

Looked all over for the fairy lights, the have many at Walmart here so will wait till Christmas Eve day to see if they put them on sale
