Morning Glories 2016 # 14

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, I'm glad your mg's seem to have fewer bugs. Hope the spraying
doesn't hurt your butterflies or hummers.
I only had 3 purp blooms this morning.
Love your Dream Catcher and Lite Blue TD, What a lovely specimen of
Hamelia patens. Wish I had planted a larger one. Mine is still very short
in the ground but has a nice full shape
Helena, I use Fertilome potting mix in the large bags. You might google it and'see if it's available anywhere close to your location. Its so lightweight that once you use it, you probably wouldn't go back to your old stuff.
# 's 2,3, and 4 are from 2 days ago.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie and Linda.

Beautiful blooms Jackie, very, very nice. I'm going to have google to see where I can get the Fertilome potting soil. That red bloom is very pretty too. I'm familiar with it but can't think of the name, senior moment.

Thanks Linda and Helena. That red bloom is the lovely red Mandevilla.
Got a good buy on it for 4.98. a good size For that price and sending out long runners
so ready for a larger pot.

Gautier, MS

Great price Jackie, love the color of your red Mandevilla.

Gorgeous blooms Helena. :Love that 1st one , so full and lacy, a real beauty,.

wow you guys are getting really pretty blooms still. All that is blooming right now mg wise is the carnea, moon flowers, yellow passion vine, purps, noah and a large light pink out front that the rain washed out. Love the split second and Helena what is the large blue? wish they would spray here but they won't, so I do. we just got another 4 inches of rain in 24 hours. I dog sat this weekend, went to a pumpkin succulent making thing, and a chili fest down town and then to a movie, today I changed out all the hummer feeders, filled the squirrell feeder, brought in plants and de-bugged, potted up cuttings that had rooted and filled the garage with plants to come in and then sprayed them all with home and garden bug spray. I have been throwing out epsom salts all summer everywhere, but the rain and then the hot sun we had last week just make things turn weird. oh well cooled off here, so we will see. so far the sticto cuttings are doing well! thanks, Helena , for these salvia's still waiting on a hamela patens to grow, but the firespike is starting to bloom!

Pretty blooms Debra. Love the Salvia's and beautiful Firespike
Lovely mg;s too.

Gautier, MS

Beautiful plants and mgs Debra. The blue bloom is blue silk cross from last year. My firespike have not bloomed this year. I also have one that supposed to have lavender purple flowers and has yet to bloom since I bought it years ago. Anybody else would have tossed it into the garbage pit by now.
I haven't downloaded my pics yet for this morning.

Pictures from a few years back!

Afternoon ladies.
Wow, all your blooms are beautiful.
Debra, I love that pumpkin.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Thanks.. I had fun with that pumpkin.. wowzers, Helena, I am so glad you took the trash out! That purple is a real beauty and like Jackie, I'm going to go look for seeds of the blue silk. :D Tonight I took everything I trimmed, repotted and de-bugged down to the basement garden, now I will fill the garage up again and see what else happens. I always start mgs to grow in winter, so many to choose from! So, here are a few years past of "basement Garden mixes"

Beautiful red magic lily Jackie.

Beautiful blooms too Debra. Hope you guys found your blue silk seeds. I do want you all to grow some more mgs!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I almost forgot to ask you , Jackie, how come your red surprise lillies are blooming now? Mine never bloomed and I don't know if they are viable thru winter either.. I think I lost track of them :P you now what else didn't show? The spider lillies that are the white ones?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Helena. Before I forget, I only have 3 Blue silk Cross sds so i don;t dare waste 1 for this winter. I';ll have to wait on that one till this coming summer to have a better chance of being successful. Guarding them with my life, lol
Beautiful blooms Debra. Love your pretty blooms from yrs past and'your new blooms. Glad the snow hasn;t shown up there yet, While I don;t like the horrible heat here, I can't stand the bitter cold like you experience there, hurts me just to think about it. Debra, my Red spider lillies always bloom this time of yr.
Usually when the nites start cooling off in late Aug and early Sept, triggers the blooms. Maybe a short day thing, When the foliage comes up and stays most of the summer I don;t
let DH cut it down, thats when it stores up energy for the blooms to follow. :-) When the foliage dies down,'
it bvooms not too long after.
