Morning Glories 2016 # 14

Gautier, MS

Thanks ladies.

Jackie that was the same Dream Catcher pics. I have several vines in different places.

Love your blooms Debra. Really nice show to see. Yes, my Black King bloomed this year but with defects I don't like to post their pics. Really not sure if the vines are done, I'll have to look for the pots and labels. I'm sure I'll have a few more seeds to share.

Oh Jackie that Split second is so very pretty! I wonder why some of these things take so long to bloom? I am going tyo take four more cuttings tomorrow.. supposed to rain again tonight so it will be perfect and high humidity.. ( for propagating, that is)

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Debra. I wonder if Split Second was waiting on cooler temps??
That was just the 1st bloom so hoping the blooms get prettier.

Gautier, MS

Jackie, I missed your beautiful Split Second picture, I love the delicate pink color. That is gorgeous, so are your other purpureas.

Blooms from today. See Black Queen would have been perfect if it didn't have those scratches like defects.

Gorgeous blooms Helena. Probably just a bumble bee doing the damage to your blooms. Just send them to us anyway, we enjoy them regardless. Not much you can do about'pollinator damage. Lovely lacy # 3 bloom and pretty pink in # 4. Love the Blue silk # 5.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Helena, those are beautiful, just part of nature I believe the marks are.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie and Linda.

Three more sort of nice blooms. The one with halo was hard to focus.

Beautiful blooms this morning Helena. The hige is gorgeous and nice color
and pattern on # 3. That middle one with the halo is amazing, a real stunner,
Do you have a name on that one?

Thanks Linda and Jackie. Just checked on the name of the bloom with the hal and the label says Hama no Ginga. That surprises me cause it has made all sort of blooms. This vine is almost done, I'm not sure if I have another vine or not.

Beautiful blooms Jackie. Love the color of your Blue Tie Dye, gorgeous color on your pea vine. Mine had two blooms the other day but it was too late for me to take a good picture of it. My C de Venise has also made lots of pretty blooms similar to yours. Nice pink purp too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jackie, those are beautiful.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Helena and Linda.
Helena, I don't know why I have such a hard time remembering Hama no ginga.
its a beauty. I think I may have had one in 2013, It made a lovely bloom that I didn't recognize. We should be growing that one more, a lovely mg.

My C of Venice is making darker blooms on the fence. The blooms in the tub are lighter for some reason.
It took 2 yrs to get my blue pea vine to bloom taking that long to get some size to it.

Really nice blooms, and I am glad you have pollinators. I watched my humming birds decimate a whole row of jaimie lynns this am. Big ole bumble bees just can't help it when they are loaded with pollen and drunk with nector! Love that fragile pink bloom.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Love the surprise striping and color flecks on those Cov's Jackie. I have two colors also, one was from AOSHibouri from Karen and one from a packet called CoV, it was more of a red and white, tho ( in the packet).,.. either way I love them all. ALso that last one of Helena's with the tourquoisey blue is really nice. Still no blue pea vine and I have planted three seeds, so am waiting on the last three... Got up to 92 today, summer is still here and very hot and steamy. #1 Jaimie Lynn cross

WOW! Look at all the beautiful blooms. So nice to wake up to.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

My blooms just about thru Linda so I'll be looking for old blooms to share.
Hate to start this early with a long winter ahead of us
A very small Keiryu thanks to the cool overnight temps
My powdery blue bloom above is most likely LYK. I'recall now that it made some lovely powdery blooms, a shame its so tiny.

Beautiful blooms Debra, pretty nice show.

Jackie, enjoyed your blooms too. Quite a few of my vines are getting done too.

My FS had enough energy for another bloom.

Love the blooms from the past, and our mgs are going fast. Had a bunch of dried pods tonight, got them in a bag so tight LOL
Okay I am silly ..
I hate that our vines are winding down. So hot out today, cold inside the store, the construction is driving us all nuts, that is progress I guess.
I sure do love that powdery blue, and I always love Flying saucers. My huge white moon vine is late for the show, but boy oh boy is it ever going gung ho! :)
had 4 hummers fighting this am before work, made me late watching them.. i have this thing now where I don't go to work without seeing a hummer and a bloom or two before I leave... had 5 monarchs and two gulf frits this evening finally! I was getting worried!

Thanks Helena and Debra.
Both of you have beautiful FSaucer blooms.
Nice to see a Gulf Frit.
Deb, whats your pink bloom?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Gmorning... thanks Jackie that is a I Setosa... sitting here getting my heart filled with hummingbird love as I watch them be territorial. Gonna be a hot one today!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful blooms ladies, love the butterflies too.
For about 2 weeks I have sat on the front porch watching butterflies pass by, sometimes dozens at a time. We are on the natural path for them to fly through as they migrate, and it is just awesome to see so many at a time fluttering over the house.

Gautier, MS

Beautiful blooms Debra. Love your butterfly too. I have hummers and butterflies too except for the monarchs. So you are lucky to get to see them Linda.
Still hot here too, glad to see the rest of I have blooming here. Soon they will be done for good.

Helena, those are very pretty.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Deb I never get to see my setosa open as it closes so early so no wonder I didn't recognize it. Yours is lovely.
All beautiful blooms this morning Helena. Your little Kikyou is
a beauty, gorgeous pattern and color.
I would love to see that many buitterflies all at one time Linda. Just happy that we have finally been seeing quite a few of them lately. They showed up later than I've
ever seen them.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Helena, love the two purps, one a rebecca and one a joyce cobb? Seems like back when Ron and them all were here , I posted a red rebecca and a blue one and they both agreed on them being "rebecca" LOL Your Kikyo is so cute!
second and third pics from august 2011 amazing as I think I am growing these now..

Thanks ladies. That lower bloom on Rebecca is from the previous day. Her blue color is much darker and prettier than the pic shows. I remember your red one Debra as being very pretty. Beautiful blooms from 2011 Debra.

My Black Queen bloom is huge this morning. Wonder if letting the soil dry out has anything to do with that? It's been pretty wet until now when things start wilting.

Hope you still get some pretty blooms Jackie. Glad your seeing butterflies too.

love the black queen, Helena. Now I think there is a glitch in the site again, as I can do the next action to look at photos it takes me back to the same first shibouri, so be aware.. we have to re-route our looking at pics actions. I also wonder if the watering makes the leaves turn yellow prematurely, I don't know but my leaves are all turning yellow out there don't think the 11 inches of rain we had so far this month like the high temps much in these flower pots///

Very pretty morning glories everyone.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Debra, I love your 3rd pic above as its the same as one of my pics from 2013. no clue right now as to the name.
I don't know what to make of the Rebecca and/or Joyce cobb id's. Maybe its the
pattern of the blooms and not the color that makes it one or the other,
I just'don't know what to make of it.
Beautiful Black Queen bloom Helena,.

ARE YOU EXPERIENCING THE YELLOWING OF LEAVES? ANYONE? I'M KIND OF ANXIOUS ABOUT THIS MALADY. SORRY CAPS LOCKS AT WORK TODAY UGH

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Edited to say mine are dying off, so thats why my lvs are yellowing.

No yellowing yet. A month ago, mine looked like they were dying from lack of rain, but now they look brand new.

Gautier, MS

I plan on sprinkling a bit Epson Salt on top of soil on mgs that leaves look bad especially my Pandy that only had a few blooms this year. I'm going to cut it all down too.
Blooms from this morning.

You're still getting some nice blooms Helena.
Mine are all deformed or just plain ugly as they wind down.
Trying to pick out just a few to start, maybe about 10. That's all I will have
room for so I have to be picky.
Can't get a good pic of my Split Second, don't know what I'm doing wrong.
My Lite blue TDye is still sending out a few blooms. I had 2 of these going,
Then most likely my last AOG with the bad lvs showing

Beautiful blooms ladies!
What does epsom salt do?

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie and Linda. I heard that Epson Salt is used on roses. Someone on FB mentioned she used it for the disease on leaves so I'm going to try it on my mgs. Just hope it helps. Guess I should do some research too.

Beautiful blooms Jackie. All look pretty good to me. Glad to hear that you are going to some more growing. I do have quite a few seedlings growing in my ghouse, but the leaves are not looking too good. I hope I don't loose them.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, thats why I wish I had started my 10 mg's sooner. When they get off to a good start b4 I have to move them to the g house, then they do
better for me in the g house over winter. Otherwise mine just go down hill with the lvs looking bad and they just croak.
Epson salts will also encourage a plant to begin blooming.

Gautier, MS

Jackie, I'm not sure if its bugs on my seedlings or spider mites already. I know one thing that helped my mgs outside was when my daughter requested the mosquito people to spray out yard. They go around town at night, well they stopped at our house 10 pm and sprayed for about 10 minutes. I was thinking oh boy they going to kill all my butterflies and good bugs too. I did notice that my mgs that had bugs were doing better and the butterflies and hummers are still here. I did change the syrup for the hummers.
I do need to start on getting my mg seedlings into bigger pots. Jackie what is the soilless soil you use. I bought Scotts but when they ran out I had to get the Moisture Control brand which didn't help with all the rain we were getting. Gardening sure has its challenges. My hamelia patens has reached over 10 ft and blooming nicely. Dream Catcher seems to have a cream center.
