I'm not sure if this is scale or some other infestation or even just dust buildup
There are white marks on the leaves and it looks almost like dried white paint. The marks wipe off when I rub it with my fingers
Not sure if it's scale as its not on the underside of the leaf; just the top

Check with your neighbors to see if anyone spray painted, or sprayed anything that might have drifted into your yard. Happens more than you think....
Doesn't look like scale or mealy bugs. But, if it continues or spreads, spray the plant with Neem oil. You'll be fine.

does look like overspray or perhaps an application that occurred before you bought the plant and you noticed it post purchase
