I planted some jubilee watermelon and crenshaw cantaloupe in new un-mulched raised beds that are in full sun. temps are running around 100-102 max every day. Have to water the beds every morning because the wx here is bone-dry. Well, the seedlings should have come up some days ago, but there is almost nothing. Could it be the beds just get so hot in the afternoon the seeds are getting cooked?
Also how to start seeds in hot August weather?
