Hi all.
I got a new maidenhair fern from a garden centre and it seems to have small white spots on the leaves. The spots are translucent so I am worried it might be scale
I've attached photos of the leaves
Any advice is appreciated
Please help!! White scales on fern leaves
See if the spots will wash off. Give a couple of the spots a gentle rub to see if they disappear. Sometimes spots from hard water or from water containing a fertilizer will leave similar marks.
Thank you so much cville_gardener!! The spots did wipe off with a damp cloth. You saved me so much worry and trouble
It must have happens when I misted it cos I live in a hard water area. I did boil and leave water overnight before using it
Would you advise I stop misting it cos of the White marks? Apparently this plant likes to be misted
Thank you again for taking your time to help
