This plant is labelled Oenothera missouriensis from the nursery. It is doing well in my yard in Albuquerque, NM but it has a "growth" in the middle, and I don't know what it is. It looks like several leaves(?) are joined together to form some sort of balloon or pod. This is not the seed pod that is at the bottom of each bloom. Any ideas on what this "growth" is? thanks, Judy
Update: 07-18-21 -- This actually is the seedpod and is about 2.75" long. When you break it open, there are a lot of seeds along each of the seams. The other name for this is Ozark Sundrops and the other scientific name is Oenothera macrocarpa.
