Has anyone tried to germinate Alstroemeria? I haven't found much information on it and what I have found has been contradictory. One site says it's easy, another says it's hard. I've never had any volunteers from seed, but I'm in a dry climate so that could be the reason. Would love to hear if someone has had success.
Germinating Alstroemeria
I've been able to germinate alstroemeria seeds in late winter or early spring. I usually planted them about 1/4 inch deep and kept the flat in our coldroom, where the temperatures are pretty chilly but above freezing. They typically sprouted in about 25 days.
Wow, that's good to hear. You know you get so much conflicting data online. But I trust what I hear from "real" gardeners. Thanks for posting.
