Can anyone please help me identify this egg? They are scattered on various plants and planters in my vegetable garden. It is not a cluster like most and it is on top of the leaves (not underneath like most bugs do), so I am not even sure this is a bug. I've Googled everything I could think of, but I can't identify it.

I tried searching to find something about this, but never found anything. Butterflies tend to lay single eggs on the bottom of leaves, but as you said this is on the top. Has there been any change to the appearance?

I have been curious about this since you posted, so I hope you find something out.
I thought I saw one yesterday on one of my plants but it ended up being a flea beetle!
This just made me think of artillery fungus, not saying that is what it is.
You will just have to hatch one for us and let us know.
Thanks Folks! Well, I still don't know what they are, but whatever came out, hasn't destroyed anything yet. I'll keep trying though. Right now, my bigger problem is early blight nearly all of my tomato plants!
I'm sorry to hear you have early blight. Since it is still early, maybe you should start over.

They usually lay their eggs on the underside of leaves. These are on the top.
And they lay eggs on specific hosts. You say they are on several different plants but you don't mention which ones.
Did you try scratching one off? Could it be a seed or fungus?
