Morning Glories 2016 # 05

Gautier, MS

Thanks Debra and Jackie.

Good news about you not having to have eye surgery, glad to hear that. Yes, the 3rd bloom is the Milky Way cross. I have a seed pod from the first bloom of Lav-purple stripes. Will save you seeds from it. Saw another bud from the dark purple to probably bloom tomorrow. I watered at least half the vines with bloom booster today.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Helena, those are all beautiful.
I am in San Antonio for the weekend end, and hubby said I have some of the morning glories on the fence blooming. I will get some pictures when I get home Monday.
Jackie, it is good news about your eyes. No surgery is good.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Helena and Linda. Good news indeed about my eyes

Thanks for saving me a few sds of your pretty Lav Purple Helena.

Looking forward to your pics when you get home Linda.

Gautier, MS

Hope to see Linda's purpurea bloom pictures on Monday too.

The dark purple bloom opened this morning but it didn't look good so I'm not posting it. Just have to wait for a nicer flowering ones. Maybe tomorrow I'll have something better.
Any pics of your flowers Debra or Jackie? I love wild flowers too!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Nothing yet Helena. I will try and send pics of my seedlings started in my Fertilome potting Mix and for comparison, several started in the seed starter mix. The Fertilome seedlings look 5 times better

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Here's my older Fertilome seedlings, 1st pic, about 2 or 3 weeks older than the seeds started in the seed starter mix, 2nd pic. The vines in the 2nd pic won;t catch up to the mg's in the 2nd pic, Vines in pic # 2 have weaker stems, look stretched out but
'both sets of vines were under fluorescent lites.

Well here's better pics of the Fertilome started vines.
The 2nd pic shows the baby Erythrina corraldendron with her'large pretty lvs.

Would someone please tell me how to find my way to Tropical Gardening. I want to
post a question relating to growing Plumerias but can't find the right forum.
They had to screw with something that wasn;t broken but now I;d say it is.
No wonder so many have left DG.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It took some searching, and I hope this is what you are looking for.

Gautier, MS

Jackie, also if you go to Forums, keep going down the page the Forum on Perennials is active and there also a Tropical & Tender Perennial Discussion Forum.

By the way your seedlings look great. I'm sure the ones you didn't use Fertilome will catch up with the others.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks to Linda and Helena. Helena, thats what I remember but i guess I got into
too big a hurry and didn't go far enough down the page. .It wasn;t that hard to find before.

I did find the sticky for the old plumeria forum. The powers that be said not to use the bloom burst type
fertilizers on your plummies.
Better to use a balanced fertilizer.
Something I;ve noticed as I've been able to get a plummie to bloom just twice.. Both times, the buds were set by the 1st of March,. Does that mean you must have bud set by early spring or you wont get any blooms the current yr? Does anyone know?

Wish I could help with your plumie questions. I don't have any, and don't the answer.

Gautier, MS

Jackie, my next option would be to find a nursery that sells plummies and call them up and ask. I'm sure they would be willing to give that info. I'm going to check one of my flower books to see what info it has on them.
From old seed a light blue and another of lilac color.

Jackie, I didn't find any info about fertilizing plummies just that they start blooming either early spring to late spring and summer.

I went to water my mgs and plants and found that I missed 2 blooms one from my Flying Saucer and a multi blue color purpurea.

Thanks Linda and Helena, Helena, thats a great idea to call the owner of a plummie
store.. Thanks for taking up your time doing research for me. I know you already have too much'to do with you having small children.

Beautiful blooms Helena. I love the Lilac, such a pretty color
Your FS reminds me of your mixed bloom you grew last yr or the yr before; half Blue Star and FS, both
tri-colors. Its a gorgeous bloom and I like that purp too.

My plummie showing some light color now (getting ready to open) with just a hint of pink, maybe it will'be a rainbow color.

Gautier, MS

You are welcome Jackie. It wasn't any trouble to look plummies up, I have quite a few books I've collected. Your plummie sounds like it's going to be very pretty.
Thanks too. I was wondering about that bloom too, but they were all from a seed package I bought a few years back. I guess they mix them. I can never seem to get much seeds from FS. One last year and I didn't sow it. I haven't seen the box stores selling FS the last 2 years either, cuz I've looked for them. But I have lots of blooms to open tomorrow from FS cross?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, I haven;t seen any Fs seeds for sale either
I always had trouble getting any sds from that one too.
Your cross is beautiful and I do think thats what it is since both are tri-colors
and would not be hard for them to cross. Looking forward to your pics
tomorrow, :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Helena, your morning glories are beautiful. I forgot to get pictures this morning. I will go out and take some tomorrow.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Looking forward to your pics Linda.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie and Linda. Looking forward to your pics too, Linda.

Here's my pics. In the same big pot, I have 4-6 vines FS, the cross and a completely white bloom. I do remember seeing a beige seed in the envy. Pink speckled had a bloom too.

Absolutely gorgeous blooms this morning Helena. The white bloom came out of FS too right? If you get back outside today, please look and see if the white bloom has a yellow eye (throat) Or just look the next time it opens a bloom., just curious.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Helena, those are so pretty.
I went out with my camera this morning, and only one was open. A pretty purple.

A lovely purple Linda.

Gautier, MS

Thanks ladies. Yes Jackie that white bloom had a yellow eye. I noticed that right off, so do you think it has something to do with Heavenly Blue? I didn't get to go outside this morning, it was raining cats and dogs with thunder and lightning and it's not over yet. Wish I had brought the pot to the patio, todays blooms probably got pounded by the rain.

Pretty boom Linda. Hope you got more today.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, I haven't seen a pic of Pearly Gates (white) mg in so long. I don;t know for sure if'that one has a yellow throat. But I would swear that it does. It is a tri-color like Flying Saucers, Heavenly Blue,
Wedding Bells and Summer Skies,??
I need to find a pic.

Jackie, I tried to look up Pearly Gates in Plant Files but could only see one page open. Don't have time to search when everything is changed around.
Found the packet I started the seeds from, lucky they germinated seeds from 2007.

Helena, pretty sure your white bloom is Pearly Gates. Not surprised to see
it come out of a pkt of Fs.

Gautier, MS

New bloom this morning along with my repeats.

beautiful flower blooms. I am sorry I have mia for a few days. looks like I always miss out on stuff when I am gone. I have tons of FS seeds if you want them.
Got thru the Honda New Car show shindig, and then got thru the Honda Owner Workshop, and now I am managing the completion of surveys of 102 employees for us to enter in the Best Dealership in the Nation contest. All the while I am still answering phones, setting appointments, giving shuttle rides and cashiering service and parts customers. Sometimes I wish I was still in Sales, they work two weeks going in at 2 pm and off at 8 pm, and then 2 weeks go in at 9 off at 2 pm. Man, what a great schedule that was back then. I work 9 to 6 everyday, and the others work 7 to 6 everyday. I think we are all tired!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

PS: I have three packets of Pearly gates they came true two years in a row..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Those are all beautiful blooms. No blooms this morning with the rain. A few were trying to open, but did not get very far. Maybe tomorrow.

Sounds like you are working hard Debra. Don't over do it.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

I wouldn't like those 9 hour days either Debra, the old hours of 2-8 or 9-2 would be more to my liking.
Hope you have bloom in the am Linda.
I think my Plumeria will open in the morning.
.

Gautier, MS

I would say too Debra that you are working too hard!

Nice bloom Jackie.

I'm having some nice ones this morning.

Gorgeous blooms this morning Helena.Love all of them.
If I don;t get busy and just make time to plant more, I;m not going to'have
lots of mg blooms to enjoy this summer. :-(

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie. Slowly more blooms opening. Bought purple salvia from Lowes and a couple other plants!

The 1st bloom I have listed as a Pink Porcelain x choco blzd

The dark pink 2010 seed as Pale Pink & blzd (I'm getting surprises cuz they are not coming true to what I thought they were supposed to be.

well, i posted last night but I guess it didn't stick, about how beautiful those blooms are you are having Helena. I also typed up all the seeds I planted in a Hanging basket, but can't find it now so all I can remember is a couple from Jackie, and a few of the new species I have. *sigh*

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Beautiful blooms again this morning Helena.
Do you have names for the last 3 blooms on your post from yesterday,?
The last one is the same as the big pink today with bars, so nice.
I love your 1st bloom too, looks like the Choc Silk cross.
# 3 today looks like # 4 in the blooms from April 30th. Not the same as # 1 today which is drop dead gorgeous. :-)

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Debra, I lose posts all the time.
Wish I could find my pkt of small blooming mg sds,
The one with the beautiful variegated lvs Maybe Ben Chidori?? Ben Chidori is
'just one of its names.
Josephs Blue silk a few yrs ago.
My new plumeria, a yellow and even thiough its not fully open, the scent was out of this world.
