Black Knot on Serviceberry?

Rogers, MN(Zone 4b)

My sister planted an 'Autumn Brilliance' Serviceberry two years ago, and last fall it started getting black lumpy growths on a few branches. It looks like black knot, but online research shows that only Plum, Prune, & Apricot Trees are susceptible. Can serviceberries also be affected? Or any other ideas of what this could be? Attached is a photo and closeup, but it's hard to see the growths due to the shadowing. Thanks for any help!

We get that here and it looks like black knot to me. Although it is seen more on our Shubert chokecherry trees here in Alberta
