so pretty, Betty! Red glass would have resembled poinsettia! Best keep that pattern handy, multiple uses!
My brother used to make stained glass trinket boxes, but wouldn't teach me or anyone else how to do it. All I wanted was some 'brother-sister' time to learn something new, but he couldn't spare any of his time. Oh well, I envy those that can do it.
Best/worse/what did I learn today?Santa Warren Gift exchange!
Hey Betty, wink, wink This is the new thread...
Ta and Da, found a shop that sells reversible robes, so will be taking a ride there this afternoon.
Ohhh, hope you have a fun time today.
Also, I dunno...just in my opinion, It's kind of like reading a book. The higher the number of the page is where the latest post is.
Hopefully the glitches will be cleared soon and we can scroll to the last post or where.
Not being mean here but I don't think creating a new page every time it goes to a second page is going to fix the dilemma.
Woohoo, my package is moving right along and is marked on time delivery!!!
P.S, Betty...you and I keep cross posting, just now noticed, wahhh you still didn't answer question on your stained glass piece. lol I'll just guess it's a gift. but wow, it's spectacular.
OMG, We crossed again Betty, ROFLOL...The snowflake is gorgeous!
ok I'm off for a while, see you later.
I've got it marked to watch and it still doesn't notify me. If I find it anyway and click go to new it goes to past all posts.
I'm still sick, can't deal with this. Has no one heard "it it's not broke, don't fix it"?
I am censoring myself and going back to bed.
katie
Your snowflakes are beautiful, Betty. Snowflakes, stars, if they were red they could be poinsettas!
Warm day here, will be glad when it's time to go home! I know the dogs would love to be outside in this! The bad part of going out to lunch is finding out how nice it is outside, and then having to go back to work!!
In need of prayer warriors. My baby boy, Waylon, leaves Washington state today. To start his trip home. Some of the mountains he has to go over, are expecting snow... lots of snow... soo ooo please, pray for safe journey! ! This Momma is freakin out!!
Thanks, and hugs to Y'All.
Sending prayers Thunder, I too would be fretting with such a long hazardous journey ahead...hoping he has a cel phone so you can constantly be calling or texting op so you know he's ok..
Deb and Kathy, thanks, now you just got to know I'll be looking for glass/bevels as to make a poinsettia..gee whizz, bad enough I never stop that you guys provide me with more food for thought..who knows just maybe there is enough red glass laying around that I could try..
Big sigh Katie..do take a few days to rest up,lots of pressure on you these past months..will you play Santa this year?
You thought Judy I a swere a few times 😉
Kathy, don't think brothers realize how we like the bond..do you still have a piece?
I have a few trinket boxes cut out, too isn't solid and I've coiled stone in them..never think that they could be gifts..soooo many gifts in boxes, no not gifts, materials for project ideas I wanted to do then get busy and move on to something else..
One snowflake is for Linda, the other Suzanne and window piece for Roger's cousin.
I'm foiling small bevels to make a set of smaller snowflake, bit different then the big ones I just did, forgot to measure, think big ones are 18"..have 50 minutes to wait until my perm, heaven forbid I just sit!
Sure could use a nap but worried I might not make the perm spot if I do
Not sure whereabouts we are in this thread anymore ..
It's Friday Dec.11@3:30pm
Have ben to town and back .. no 'chit' in our mailbox for the parcel .. must have one to pick it up ..
Doubtless I will pop into the post office tomorrow and se if they might be in the mood to hand it over iffin it's there :-)
NEW couple running our local store too .. had been 'Wilsons' for over 30 years ..now it's 'Valleys' .. and, they are having to contend with this lack of a mailman problem ..
How is everyone .. LK , Susan .. everyone :-)
~M~
saying lots of prayers today.... weather, travels, illness. Tis the season, I suppose. Seems like this time last year we were hoping for a quieter year. Micah, my youngest at 35, had a tonsillectomy this past Monday. An out-patient type of surgery, no less. He was constantly passing tonsil stones, and since his tonsils were always swollen, he snored, which stretched the uvula... on and on. Doc said it was time to take them out or he would end up choking on the uvula.
He was in and out within 6 hours, included sign in, surgery and recovery. He's eating oatmeal, scrambled eggs and pureed soup today, along with his Gatorade popsicles and iced drinks. And lots of chewing gum..lol Said he has cut back on the pain meds as the uvula is the only thing bothering him, will be the last to heal since it's more exposed.
Thunder, sure hope your son has safe travels. Mama needs her son and family home for Christmas!! How are the Frozen quilts coming? Will the girls get them for Christmas?
Betty - not to add to your list, but poinsettias come in many colors now: cream, greens, pinks, variegated.. lol. Micah worked a big nursery his senior year, so we got one of every color that Christmas! No, none of the family got any trinkets or window catchers from my brother. His second wife is a doozey- it's all about them and making money. She sold what he made in a consignment shop at the time and more or less told me at the time I asked him to teach me (and I volunteered to pay for materials and such, not to mention driving an hour each way), that he didn't have time for that and I could find any craft shop for learning how on my own.. He stood right there and didn't agree or disagree, so I took that as a "No".. Many such conversations took place since then, and it's always the same. He lives 4 miles from my mother and maybe visits once a year or calls maybe a couple times a year. Too busy to stop when we're all together once a year for dinner, and I haven't seen his wife since 2002. His loss, the rest of us don't stress over it, but I'm the only girl so it irks me more, I suppose.
Hi
Oh Thunder, prayers for a safe journey.
my gosh, you must pacing the floors, know I would...
Marilyn, hope your package is waiting for you. Hope you get a new mail person soon.
oops here come peggy!
Sorry for your brother, Kathy...he has no idea how much he has lost. sigh.
Betty, I have clicked on the Watch icon, but still never get any new post info. As much as it pains me to say so, my 10 years at DG will come to a close as a subscriber in January.
I will keep up with as many of you as possible on the two sites that Dave owns, as they are well run and happy places to be, and will if any of you want it, send you my e-mail address and try to keep up through D-mail.

Love, love the irrid glass Betty. I am not going to tell you what you should do but with using that glass you have to be really sure the foil is really down especially on the back.Prices have really gone up so I don't think the over $200 was out of line.
Betty is there still a FIG in Barrie ? Fantasy in Glass - founded and run by Mike. I have no idea what his last name is though.
Duke bit me tonight while I was trying to break up a fight between he and Diesel.I am going to put him back on his meds and see if that calms him down. I can't keep him if he is going to bite. Duke has been spoiling for a fight for a long time.
Chaos had a blast today chasing down the errant leaves blowing around.
Very windy here all day. We even have white caps on our small lake.
Oh Judy you must be getting excited about Julia's wedding. Your first baby to literally to find her wings.
Lights are flickering so I had better get the lamps and the generator readied.
Dianne
I finally figured out my way in on the Plants site.. it's been years since I've been there, and many computers ago. But since it's all plant talk and nothing else, I went next door to look in the old quilting thread, nothing new, maybe I just wasn't in the groups that everyone else was.
I'm paid up here until next summer, so will bide my time since there are no refunds. But they knew we would, right? lol The Big Man gets the little man every time...
We had the doors, windows open for the afternoon. Crazy for this area in early December! Not to mention seeing joggers go past the house in shorts. I've already closeted our summer clothes, if this keeps up I'll have to pull out the capri's!
Morning everyone,
High of 45 here today so like you Kiz it's almost warm enough for shorts. I'm gettin more comfortable with being on here, know like a book you have to pick your last page, preview is a bit of a nuisance but worth it to keep in touch with you all..not going to cunits or other sites, not a Facebook person at all so hit will be here or nowhere for me..sure hope you all stay..for what we pay for membership it's worth it for the support we receive from many of these threads. I see they've added the date under the hours since last posting..now on to habpve them fix 'last post issue'
Dianne did he break skin?? Lordy he was doing so well, would be heartbreaking if you had to find a home for him.. Stained glass is giving me the opportunity if using some of those new tools I bought years ago,,had an old bag of foil from when I started, guess about 8 yrs ago, was $11.99 and this time $16.99, thanks for the tip on foiling..I will try to get at the project, can't you yptell I'm not overjoyed in doing it.
Kiz it's sad that your brother hasn't seen this as an opportunity to get closer to you, bonding time..their better halves sure have a hold on them but he should have spoke up and said it would be fun to share his knowledge with you..not always about money making!
Thunder any news on your son? When is he expected to arrive home Bari g any problems?
Busy day yesterday, got 2 18" snowflakes done, 2 smaller ones foiled and ready to do today..got a perm and as usual hair cut much too short, I sure look like a grannie..then it was off to Rita's, talk about food..got home late and slept fairly well
With Don coming over this morning to use my glass saw I thought I should give it a good cleaning, ended up cleaning the entire stained glass area so he is all set to go.
Sitting enjoying a coffee then vacuum and start my day..
Back in a bit
Good morning ..
I see I don't have to put in date and time :-)
Skiff of snow last night, not the 20+cm predicted .. happy, happy .. altho Lorna won't be
Still keeping a close eye on Piper .. had me up at 4:30 as he was panting ... with the woodstove on the house is warm to humans, but, to a dog with a thick coat, I guess it's even warmer ..
Plans are to go to the dump (OH YAY) .. check out the post office, and, pile more wood for DH ..
Will pray for a safe trip for Waylon ..
I hope everyone has a stellar day :-)

Am I in the right place ?

GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
You are "M" it's just a confusing mess.
son is on the road, so to speak... spending some sleeping time at one of Amanda's uncles, in Oregon. after getting a very late start. Had to stop loading truck many times due to pouring rain. long road ahead still. continued prayers most appreciated.
Hugs to Y'all
goodness, Betty, those 'starflakes' are getting prettier with each one you do! Those little pearls sure add a special touch.
Hopefully, Thunder's son will make much better time after he gets thru Oregon. Over the rivers and through the woods, as Mom used to sing..lol
My brother was always the 'special' one, curly hair, primped alot, girls wanted to date him, but he seemed to want the really pretty ones who wanted the boys with money-and that was one thing our family never had. His first marriage was to a sweet country girl, but she ended up running off with a co-worker. The 2nd one he met at a new company, snooty from the start, but I guess there was something there that clicked. They ran off and got married, then walked in on Mom and showed her the rings. Mom was devastated that her special one didn't include her, strike one.. Years later the Wife told Mom that Tim was just born into the wrong family, and at the wrong time.. whatever that meant. Strike 2. My oldest niece got pregnant at 16, and the Wife told my SIL and brother that the baby should be adopted out, as they shouldn't be responsible for raising a grandchild and supporting their daughter. Strike 3. Obviously, we aren't heartbroken that we don't see her, but we sure do puzzle over him. Then they adopted a daughter and she totally went over the top: prostituting at 13, 3 pregnancies, running off and getting arrested in red-light districts multiple time. Tim would get calls in the middle of the night, asking to come pick her up or to find wherever she left the baby. He finally got custody of the baby, but he's a special needs of some type, autistic, bipolar, something. I've seen him twice and he's now 11. Sweet kid, but if you ask them how he's doing, it's always a pain in the rear to take care of him.. What goes around, comes around, not a nice way to look at it, but they don't want us involved in the boy's life, the same way they did with their daughter. We were too 'country-fried' for them. And for where the daughter and her 2 other babies are? Somewhere in KY living with a houseful of drug people, that's all Mom could ever get from him. Sad... she was a gorgeous little girl, her birth mom was an addict, so we figured that's where her problems stemmed from. That and Tim and Wife always reminding her how much of a problem she was when she was growing up..
So much for that story. We're out to brave the masses today to look for a new office desk for Hubby. I feel like we're living in a genealogical library with all his stuff scattered everywhere, Time to find organization!!
Our adopted granddaughter now 16 is affected with FAS, most likely their daughter was and her babies too. It's a sad sad thing and the problems last a lifetime. Our girl is beautiful and sweet as can be but most likely will never be able to live on her own. It's a terrible worry to our DS. When we got her she was brought by the police as an emergency removal, she was living with an aunt and being abused at just 2 1/2
Her growing up has been like watching a flower bloom. I guess it's the difference lots of love makes.
Such sad stories Kiz and Karen..it's the children that suffer don't they as well as family who so would have had the joy of seeing them grow up and a support system to the kids in need!
Pat and don came, just left, Suzanne and Lenny were to drop in then forgot, will drop in later
Think I will take a run to stained glass studio, then into town, don't want to cook so will be up something in town..now that is pretty lazy seeing I've freezers full of ready made yummies
Hope Kiz you find what you want first thing so you don't have to fight the masses
Families .. all I can say is, we live with diversities, and, many adversities .. but, love remains a constant, whether spoken of, or not.
TRYING to snow here, never did do the dump run, did check on the parcel, will be at the outlet Monday .. YAY !!!
Lorna's Dad is really not well ..so .. I am trying to make arrangements (Plan B) should she have to go to them when we are in Toronto for the surgery .. we will have to KENNEL our 3 furbabies' .. my cousin is a breeder, so I am asking her which one is the best ..she runs in that circle ..
Off to play cards

PS .. how are ya LK ? Susan, Sharon, Katie ...................
I was entirely too confident I had worked out the new format here on DG I really, really do not like this new programme.
My hand where Duke bit me last night is swollen a bit but he didn't break the skin. He got me right where I have extra muscle in my hand from doing SG for so long. Like a pro guitar player has. Hard time getting gloves to fit.Duke is doing much better today now he is back on his meds. I was concerned when I gave them each a tartar buster treat today but it went smoothly enough. Most of his trouble is food related.
Couldn't figure why Diesel was so interested by something down by the dock.Just saw 2 pairs of Wood Ducks. They have been staying around for few days as all of the TH has been interested.
Karen how are you feeling now?
DId you have to cash in your first born Betty in order to get your SG supplies?
We all need a walk. BBL
Dianne
Almost did Dianne, needed chain and another roll of solder..have another large snowflake to do and the panel, ought to make out with 2 full rolls of solder.
Your up hand must be sore as old heck, what will you do for exercise to stop the muscle from seizing? Glad the meds are working..
Damp today, although thermostat says 72 I'm chilled
Going to go downstairs, turn lights out in Santa's workshop then maybe just rest tonight..if rather get up early in the morning and put in a good day.
The new format is terrible. Nothing but complaints to which Admin is turning a blind eye. No member has anything positive to say about the changes. Sadly, just confirms my opinion about Admin. intelligence - or is that a contradiciton in terms?
I'm quite sick. Neighbor Maria will take me to the clinic is Santa Rosalia on Monday. They do not have an MRI but can do X-rays.
Can't deal with the mess here.
katie
I still have to go looking for this thread. It does not show up on my list.
For those of you on Facebook, go to my page. My Niece just up loaded a short video of my Sis, Dad and Nephew at the nursing home, singing Jingle bells.

Sending prayers Katie
Lindakay, that link is a nice shopping site
How would I get to your page LK? I am signed up for Facebook - just don't know how to navigate!!!
Was ready to call it a night but ended up doing 1 no sew fleece blankets..was going to try to work on 2nd but decided I'd do it tomorrow night..
Now Kathy, that box of chocolates sits on the coffee table, should have put it somewhere else..shhh don't tell anyone, top layer all but gone..likely just enough to get me through tomorrow evenings project
GAWD!!!!!
You clickon a pic, and when you come back to the thread you're back a page or 2!!
Katie, wishing you all the very best ..
Betty .. mmmmmmmm .. Whitman's Chocies .. a fave .. I have refrained from buying the Christmas chocolates til this coming week ..
Dianne .. hope all with the dogs goes well ..
Had an air crash north of here ... cargo plane .. pilot died ,, awful stuff ..
Off to bed

Terrible "M"
Was it due to weather conditions?
Whitman's sure are creamy..think this is my first time eating them..shouldn't have opened the box
Usually buy Laura Secord week before or stop at the little mom and pop chocolate store in Craigstown.
No frills opened in midland last week, now that the crowds will be less in numbers than opening week thought I might go tomorrow..want to buy fixings for meat pies..maybe I'd best check the freezer before I go..I put 2 beef to 1 pork..think I have the beef..always something on my to do list
Had my half yearly check-up yesterday. My Dr. just amazes me. She just doesn't get it. She said, you look so happy now. I stared at her and said, I FEEL GOOD NOW!
My hemoglobin is down just a wee bit, not concerned have it checked again in two weeks, if it's down more then I will get with Gastro on it.
The website "All Things Plants" has a thread called "Mutiny at DG." I urge everyone to check out both the thread and the site. I don't like the recent changes here or Admins' atitude towards the criticism. Lots of former DGers at ATP.
katie
Wow - another Santa Warren pressie - wonderful gifts you got, Betty!!
Lots of excitement here today, and not the good kind. We were out grocery shopping, and when we returned, it looked like Marcel's car leaving. We were home for 10 min, and suddenly Bang, Bang, Bang on the windows & doors, he tried to open our door (twice) and come in, and phoned and phoned...... I called 911 and the police came. Marcel had been banging on windows & doors while I was talking to 911 and they heard, so they sent the police from the other side of the city, speeding. After 20 min of banging, the police arrived and spoke to Marcel & Carolyn - told them that there is a proper way to serve documents (case is being heard on Monday) and that this was NOT the way. Told them they are not to contact us again, and if they do, charges will be pressed. The police could not give us the documents, so they had Carolyn bring them, and they stood between us so there was no problem.
I'm still shaking, and this was 2 hours ago.........
Katiebear, thanks for the Mutiny info.. lol I read all 4 pages, and found lots of folks that I remember from years back. Since I'm used to looking for just quilting or needlework threads, I stumbled into Sandbox last night, ahhh, that's what I was looking for, lots of conversation among folks who just like to chatter! And the best thing about 'next door'? Dave and Trish comment and chat with you just like they were family, like always.. plus the pages are easy on the eyes and welcome you to stop and browse, read, reply, whatever-
All this will die down eventually, but folks don't forget, that's what will make the difference in where we all end up.
Susan, that is to your benefit I'm sure..now what documents were they trying to serve you with?? That part worries me..courts will have to do something as this is now an explosive situation..Monday can't come soon enough I'm sure. I imagine your landlords were not impressed.
Mutiny as DG
HMMM
With everyone wanting to moved on I guess it is time to CLOSE this thread as sad as I will be to lose contact with you all.
I will wait until the last of the Santa Warren gifts arrive which should be in the next few days and close this thread!!!
I am sure many of us are not going anywhere Betty. So please don't go yourself. I don't care for new things, but I will learn to deal.
Sending hugs
Betty, Dear, There is no reason to close the thread. Most of us have lots of time left on subscriptions and will be here. I have been on both Cubits and ATP since they began. The great appeal to me is the calm, the friendly folks, many of whom you would recognize, and the ease of use. ATP is fairly similar to the original DG in the forum set up and there is no charge to be there. People are friendly and pleasant.
I am sure moving after this many years would seem strange to you, but no one is saying you have to leave DG, we are merely asking you to join us in seeing what else is out there.
AKkkkkkkkkk .. don't close down the thread !!
YES, I am bummed and a bit miffed at being FORCED to make changes, but, that doesn't mean I'm goin anywhere ..
I did join ATP, and, it is a breath of reassurance that what we have had is still available, easy to navigate, STELLAR members, all we have here without the upsetting changes .
I am paid up til August 2016.
Susan, what were the docs for ? This Marcel is coming close to have him charged with something .. I would have thought trespassing yesterday ..
He is a NUT BAR !!!
NO snow out of the 20cm predicted AGAIN .. weather liars are in fine form ..
Have 3 kennels to call ... have to get our ducks lined up 'in case' something happens between Jan 11-15 with Lorna's Dad .. my nerves are on edge most of the time it seems ..
Best get going, have steak to marinate ..
