Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

January 13th will make it 3 yrs since I lost my sister, LaVonne/Dorothy. I still miss her and find myself driving along a road and seeing something beautiful and thinking how I have to get home and tell her all about what I saw or take her to see it. Than I remember that she is not here and I want to cry.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Seems to be the season for remembering and missing , Their still with us and live on that way , Sometimes I think of friends , and others that have crossed over , while I am doing something , wondering on , about such ,

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Sorry Marti. This is a dark time of year.

I find myself awake again due to stressors in daily life. Been a while since I had some rip roaring stress rattling around enough to wake me/keep me awake.

How are you Ju? Looks like your non sleep schedule remains constant.

Off to attempt some Zzzzs.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Hi Amanda I am sleeping a few hours at a time some days I function that way ,
raging snowstorm here this morning , 40 mph wind and a whiteout currently , since we started these threads I had a while of 9pm to sleep and up at 5 am going .

Take care of yourself marti , I missed not hearing from you ,,

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hi ya'll. I totally lost track of this thread at some point. It hasn't been showing up on my thread list.

I know what you mean, Marti. My husband passed away in July. After 47 years, it's very difficult. My sleep patterns are out of whack too, Ju.

I had the pleasure of meeting Marti for lunch when she was on her way to CA (I think it was). I hope you are doing well, Marti. I believe I still have a couple of the plants you gave me.

I need coffee but now that I've got this thread marked again, I'll keep an eye on you all.

We have snow on the ground this morning but it doesn't appear to be on the roads. It will be in the 20s here all day. :( I'm not a fan of winter.

Take care.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

About 5 degrees outside ,

How about Muskat Love , in granny's rocker
A good chair , sure is comfy ,,

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Aw, that's very sweet, Ju.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I didn't mean to run everyone off. lol. I'm mostly on Cubits and ATP anyway but will check in here at DG until my subscription runs out. It's one of the gardening sites I started with years ago.

I had this thread marked to "Watch" but it doesn't show up in my Watched Threads anymore. I assume that means they plan to do away with it or maybe the entire forum while they are making their "improvements".

Ya'll take care.

(Patti) Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

In order to find this thread again, I have to actually go into view posts I have made. This is a pretty quiet thread, it seems. I normally post on it in the middle of the night when I'm awake and the rest of the world is asleep. It's good to see you, but I will be seeing you around. (Grin)

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Lots of problems around here lately

(Patti) Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

Ya think? ROTFL

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Thinking ,, oh my ,, oh ,my ,,,,, Rotfl , Rotfl ,, That's as dangerous as Programmers !!!

(Patti) Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

LOL yes, it would appear the programmers have a lot to think about and have yet to come up with real solutions.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

*Hugs* Marti - I think about Dorothy too.....
Hugs to you, CVille - after 47 years, it's got to be very tough.... I just can't imagine life without my Bob..... but I know we all trudge onwards, and I suppose I would, but I know it would be tough.......

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thank you, Susan. It's harder than I ever imagined it would be, but I come from a long line of tough women. Now it's my turn to uphold that standard.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yeah, I know all about "pulling up your big girl panties" but sometimes we tough women need to buy a gross of them, right?
I've heard it's all about "firsts" and you've been through a few of them already. I'll be praying for you as you go through them.
My mom, the first summer after my dad passed (in Dec), said the first time she was out walking alone and a neighbour asked where her hubby was, was taken aback - it was a "first".........

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

As long as the time stamp isn't working, I guess I can post any time. (Fyi, it's 9:45 am.

My father died on Saturday. He had been in a nursing home for a long time, and it certainly wasn't unexpected, but wow, I have been losing things and forgetting things for the last few days. I can't imagine what a mess I'd be if my husband ever dies.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Very Sad to hear about your Father , condolences , Difficult at the age when parents pass away ,My Father passed away in 1991 ,, mom's still up and going ,
Be thankful , for those with you ,, it helps ,,

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Deepest condolences, Carrie - I know it's tough even though it was expected.
Gentle hugs to you.....

So sorry, Carrie. I lost my husband in July. It's tough.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Here it is after 4 am and I'm up. Its all white outside, but the rain is slowly melting off the snow. I hope the roads are not icy this morning. I have to be at work by 10am. I'm in a training program called Experience Works and I'm allowed to work 16.5 hours a week. I'm working in a thrift store, running the cash register. When they find someone to replace me, I'll go back to working in the office, where I prefer to be. I have a problem with the boss's daughter. She has something against me and takes it out on me every chance she gets. I think it's because I get paid to be there and she doesn't. She rarely goes around the office, so it will be better for me there. Til than I just have to walk on eggs and hope I don't break one as she will jump on me for any reason. She says I have an attitude towards her, but I don't go out of my way to pick on her like she does to me.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Good morning. Seems rather somber, the last several posts or so, but in the wee hours I often come back to thinking about personal losses. I hope that with improving weather and our shared love for the garden we will each find solace and fulfilment there.

Below a couple of snaps of my new, empty garden and plants from the old house waiting to go in the ground, more or less placed in position. Lots of work to do, and this house/yard/neighborhood is full of chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits. Can't help but anticipate some eating and digging once my plants go in. :)

Mary - so sorry to hear about the boss' daughter being so picky
Most times it's THEIR history and nothing to do with you at all. She sounds like she's threatened by you. Do you want to borrow my tiny violin to play Hearts And Flowers for her? Sounds like she could use a rendition or two....

I know it's been awhile since I posted here, but so much has been happening in our lives, Bob & I.
Cutting to the chase - been under a LOT of stress for most of the past year, and on March 4th I had the 1st of at least 3 heart attacks (pulmonary embolism) and on the morning f the 9th, I had my hubby call an ambulance and I've been here ever since. I had MAJOR blood clots in my lungs (as in large and several) and they were cutting my oxygen and caused my heart to race. I could not get it to slow down. I was plenty scared I gotta tell ya.
No surgery will be done - I'm on blood thinners. While I have some damage to my heart because the clots were having trouble passing through, it wasn't my heart but the clots in my lungs that caused the problems.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Susan, that is really scary. My mother had a pulmonary embolism last winter. They think she has too much of a clotting factor. Do they know why you had yours?

And aren't hospitals lovely, friendly places for a little vacation? (Dripping with sarcasm.) I'm glad you're able to get online. Don't get too comfortable there....home is better. I spent 6 weeks in the hospital in 2002.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Carrie - mine was caused by too sedentary a life which was caused by my OA in both my knees.
I"m ok with being in the hospital, truly I am. Dr had me thoroughly scared and I need to be here until I'm well enough to have this taken care of. He said, if I'd tried to come to the hospital by myself, I would not have made it. Said also that the Chiropractor adjusting my ribs was not what was needed - not when I was having an pulmonary embolism. He wants me to talk to my hro in a non-threatening way and explain this. If my chiro won't take responsibility for this, then I need to contact the College of Chiropractors and they take a dim view of a patient being put at risk of dying because pain in the back is not always "ribs out" in this case, I saw him on Saturday the 5th, and Monday the 7th, and both times were pulmonary embolisms, not ribs....

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Terrifying!!! That is really scary, T. I have never been to a chiropractor; what's wrong with me couldn't possibly helped by chiropractics. OA is confusing and scary, though. I sound like I am always fearful; I'm not. There's a lot wrong with me, but not OA yet. Do you find that the chiropractor helps?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

In a lot of cases yes, the chiropractor helps but in this case no, of course.
My hubby spoke to the Chiropractor and he showed concern for my condition, but did not take responsibility for not realizing this was not my ribs being out - it went beyond that.
When I heard that, I called the College and they said "what would you like me to do? Are you saying the Dr cause the pulmonary embolism?" NO, I said - it's just that it was going on and it wasn't a case of ribs being out as much as something worse. I told him that I could have died........ and he said he knows the Dr (chiro) and will have a conversation with him, talking to him about the gravity of this.
btw - I am NOT looking for financial compensation either, just don't want this to happen to another person who may die in a chiropractic office because it was something like this that could cause a patient's death.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

To catch up on my problem with the boss's daughter. She has done a complete 180 and is always nice to me when she comes in the store now. I don't know what changed her but I'm still careful with how I talk to her and what I say when she comes in. I wonder if her mother got her to understand that if I leave they will be in a world of hurt at the store because they will have to cover 3 days that I work and there is no one to do that.
I'm up for renewal on my DAve's garden, but think I will leave it expire. I'm very rarely on here anymore and have so many other things I could do. So I will say goodbye and hope all of you have a good time.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

marti it won't be long , until mine does the same , over the years we had some good talk , a few trades , a lot of travel , and times ,
no goodbye , only until we meet again ,
Best wishes and Hopes to you ,

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes, until we meet again.
Mine's up for renewal in July (extension is included in this), but I don't believe I will renew

come over to ATP and go to the Sandbox.......

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

I see that someone mentioned they had talked to Ernie in a post made in November. I know he popped in here once in awhile. Nobody has mentioned it, but Ernie has passed on and just wanted you to know if you didn't already. About a month ago.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I talked with Ernie on a few threads , Best to his family and friends ,
Old and new friends , in passing ,
life moves on ,
we always miss some , always will

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes, Ernie passed away about a month ago.
His bride of many years will sorely miss him, as will his many friends
