Backyard Landscape around Deck

Chittenango, NY

Our very large curved deck needs landscaping. This is what the landscaper suggested: PINKY WINKY hydrangeas along the curve, or ninebarks. I made up pictures to show you the rest of what we are doing. Also need suggestion for corner cove, as you can see in the pictures.
Deck gets morning sun. Will be putting lilacs to the left, out of the picture and a group of trees to the right of the deck for privacy. We have complete privacy in the back.

So, what to put along the curve and in that corner?

The planter areas do not have to follow the line of the deck.
You could do a curving layout.
Formal: Straight line (well, curved), stays parallel to the deck then add a half circle cut out at the mid point. Then put something taller like a small flowering tree in that larger area.
Informal: A waving line (don't over do it!), then larger shrubs in the big areas and perhaps a vine to run along the deck rail in the narrower area.

Where the house has a blank wall, 2 stories high, you definitely need a larger plant. Small tree, or mid-sized tree. The question is, though, how wide could it grow and not be a problem? If it grows wider, it needs to be away from the house. Is there a larger section of planter to accommodate it?

Add a plan view without the plants, and lets see if something shows up that does not show in the current pics.

This looks like a beautiful area to landscape! I would take a garden hose out there and simulate shapes until you have something you love. Make sure it is plenty wide because the plants your landscaper suggested are quite big. I think I would like a bit more variety than was suggested as well. I agree with Diana that the one area begs for a small tree. I also would like to see a picture of the area without the plant pictures.
