Hi everybody,
I am new here, so please forgive me if this is in the wrong thread. Unfortunately I do not have the name of the plant, but I included a picture.
Anyway, I splashed a very small amount of boiling water on one of the leaves by accident. I want to know if this is generally a big deal or not, and if there's anything I can do to stop it from causing damage.
This plant has a lot of sentimental value to my mother, so it's very important to me that it doesn't get damaged.
Thanks very much in advance,
Trevor
Splashed boiling water on my mom's plant
I think this is a Sanseveria.
Once the boiling water has hit the leaf there is not much you can do. Watch to see if the leaf develops any problems, and remove that leaf if needed.
I agree, but there is no physiological reason to remove a leaf that is still a contributor of food/energy to the organism because it has an injury. If the leaf becomes a net USER of energy (rather than a net contributor), chemical messengers will alert 'plant central' and the plant will shed the freeloading leaf.
