My mom has a grape vine that she likes picking grapes from to make jams with, and every year the leaves on them end up like this, we suspect some kind of bug doing it maybe, so we would like to find out for sure from the more experienced people here. It never does seem to affect the quality of the grapes themselves though.

I found this by searching at google
Grape leaf pest virginia
Then looked at images to find similar damage.
Some pests are so small they can eat just one surface of the leaf, especially when they are young, then they grow big enough to eat the full thickness of the leaf. Some never get big enough, and even the adults are so small they just eat one surface like this.
