I've been trying to research flowers that are blooming on Mother's Day in Durham, NC. I live in zone 7b. I understand that it will be hard to time the exact blooming for flowers, but was looking to grow some flowers for graduation and Mother's Day. I was also thinking I could do successive planting, to help make sure I might have flowers for both of these events. Does anyone have any suggestions for flowers to try around this time, or have experience with flowers that work well? Thank you for all your help!!!! :)
Flowers to grow for Mother's Day in Durham, NC
What about growing BULBS in pots, IF I'm right Mothers day is around JUNE time but it differs from country to country, search for flowering bulbs that flower at the times you want, also there are Perennial plants that flower early summer / late spring. even some annuals like sweet peas IF planted early in Feb indoors can bloom may -july.
IF you can give more info about where you want the plants to grow, indoors, or start undercover till early spring then put the outside, or have you a garden .
Let us have some more info re your growing skils, how much time you have to give to the project etc, all helps to give you best advice.
Good luck. WeeNel.
How about Iris? They are so easy and prolific, and bloom about that time. Also they come in so many colors nowadays! Brings back sweet memories-my daughter graduated college a few years ago and we had a big Open House. I planted a bunch of daffodils the fall prior, and some of them were blooming, but not enough! Good luck and happy planning/planting!!
