herb pest ID

Valsolda, Italy(Zone 9b)

I noticed a large amount of flies around my herbs and recently they started developing small white spots on the leaves. Does anyone know a home-made organic solution I could use on them? Thanks in advance!

Something is definitely sucking on these plants. I would start with an insecticidal soap, and also look under the leaves and in protected places to see if you can find the pest. A good ID of the pest might suggest a more specific control.

Do you see any webbing?

I think 1lisac and I are both thinking along the lines of Red Spider Mites, these are so small little spiders, you usually require a magnifying glass to search the underside of the leaves to try spot them, by the way, the red is not the normal colour, they are brown usually and only the females turn red when she's ready for mating.

You should look over the plants for very fine webs, they are so fine they can look like down, it is very
difficult to get rid of these mite IF in fact thats what you have, BUT as they like dry warm conditions, the best way to try slow them down is to give the plants a misting maybe 2 times a day.
should it turn out you dont find webs (And you should find loads due to the amount of patching on your plants IF you have the spider mites) however there are other Aphids that like to suck all the sap out of the soft leaf plants, things like Greenfly, Whitefly, IF other bugs are found, I would make a mix using dish wash liquid soap ( just a few tiny drips of the soap) mixed with tepid water, this misting with the soap mix on the leaves and underside of leaf too helps, you may have to do this several times a weak BUT dont do it every day, the soap will stop air being taken up by the foliage.
IF you can give a discription of the bugs, it would be a better way to give the correct advice BUT for sure, you have a masive infestation and it must have been going on for some time now, so the quicker you can let us know what type of bug you find, the better it will be for your plants AND you .
Kindest Regards.
