Deer ate cucumber tips - Can they be saved?

Custer, WI

I just looked at my cucumber plants last night and was so happy that they looked so beautiful and had no insects on them this year. They are growing in a 4 ft. wide by 12 ft. long raised bed with supports in the center for them to climb up. This morning when I looked out my window, I saw the deer had eaten the tops of the plants down one side of the 12 ft. What do I do? Will they still grow if they have a leaf or two on them? Do I need to pull them out and replant (if it isn't too late in the season)?

I would not pull them out, they may regrow.
Just to be safe, though, perhaps start some new seed, or buy started plants.
You may have to finish ripening them under a hoop system with clear plastic.

Thanks Diana, I will see what happens.

Any chance you could put a net over the plants, I once tried to string some old CD discs to move around in the breeze and the glare of the mirror CD would put the deer off, No chance, I think even more turned up that night for a party, with snacks provided of-cource LOL.

I agree that maybe the plants will put on some fresh growth and you can get a few fruits, but dont hold your breath, maybe by some small potted seedlings to try do catchup before the seasons over.
Good luck.
