I looked up growing watercress online, and all of the entries are for container plants. I want to put it in the runoff channel around my house that keeps the rain from flooding my basement. Obviously I would have to water it when it's not raining.
How do I start the plants, and do I need to make a pond in the channel? It's mostly about a foot wide. The water flows pretty fast around it in hard rain.
How to grow watercress
I haven't grown watercress but I'd suggest planting the roots a little higher up on the bank, so that the roots can access the water when it flows, but so that the plants are not (possibly) eroded out by the flow... if it's that strong. If the flow is not erosive, I wouldn't worry about it.
Here are some suggestions:

Oh, thanks, for suggestion and link. I'm going to try it. Hadn't thought about higher roots.
