Where to find/buy/acquire Night Blooming flowers

Kitchener, Canada

I am looking for some Night Blooming flowers such as Evening Primrose, Four o'clock, Night Gladiolus, Moonflowers, Angel's Trumpet. I live in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. I have checked Nurseries, Flower Shops, etc. Advertised in the local Kijiji.

I have some Yellow Evening Primrose and am looking for more of these great Night blooming flowers.

Angels Trumpet is a Brugmansia. Should be some websites for those.. Datura blooms also at night, as well as night blooming jasmine, just not sure abt your zone for these, and you need seeds if ordering over the border..

Gardens North sells Oenothera caespitosa, a beautiful plant and night-blooming... and tons of other interesting things. It's an excellent source for seeds of hardy plants.

Thanks altagardener! I have ordered 1 of each of the 3 Night Blooming seeds from the site provided.

After doing some research and reading about Angels Trumpet, a Brugmansia, Datura I will skip these, since they are poisonous, and we have 2 dogs who like to nip at the plants.
Don't want to introduce poisonous plants into the environment.

After some investigation of the night blooming jasmine, I will skip it as well. Not desirable!

Sorry that I'm late to this thread. Just happened to stumble on it during one of my bouts of insomnia.

I've got a few 4 o'clock seeds that you're welcome to have. Would they grow in your zone? Don't know about mailing them across the border. Also just got some rain tonight so don't know if some of the seeds blew or rolled away. :D

A wonderful night bloomer is known by the common name Night Blooming Cereus. You would, however, have to keep it warm in the winter. Plus it needs a lot of age on it before it blooms a lot. The blooms, however, are spectacular.

Where is Kitchener? What province? Or is it in a territory? Sounds familiar. Never mind. I have an older brother who answers my questions by reminding me to google them.

Thanks, not to worry, I found a site online where I purchased some seeds and they grew beautifully... THanks!

Hi hburry, Be careful if any of these plants are invasive because they can become a problem . I was reading the names of the plants and one of them can be invasive . I love the evening primrose but I kept it in a container for years because when I had it in the ground it took over one of my garden beds , Good luck on your night blooming plants.

Thanks for that tip. Which one of the 3 seeds can become invasive?
Oenothera Caespitosa White
Oenothera Caespitosa Flava ssp YELLOW (I have some of these already)
Oenothera Speciosa PINK

I transplanted them from the pots that the seeds started in, to my garden today.
If they become invasive will just have to either transplant or pull them out.
I do find that most all plants can be invasive - or propagate where you don't want to to.

See pictures of what they look like in bloom.
