Does anyone know how to cure the problem in the pictures below. They are nectarines off my brother's tree in Lugoff, Sc. It is some type of gooey stuff coming out of the fruit. It is also affecting my peach trees next door. Thanks and have a marvelous day.
That oozing is called gumosis and can be caused by a couple of different things.
A cultural problem such as over watering.
A pest that has bored into (or out of) the fruit.
Here is a link to a site that has a lot of info about fruit trees. It is CA based. Many pests and diseases are the same, but if you can find an east coast site it may have other pests or diseases that are common in your area.
Peaches and Nectarines are so closely related that they will share pests and diseases. Any info you dig up about one applies equally to the other.
