A master gardener did a wonderful job on this property years ago. i bought the property in December but had no idea what types of plants I was going to see this year. It's been exciting! But after my second round of poison ivy, I need to find it and get rid of it. I also have stinging nettles throughout the plants. I need to identify the poison ivy first. There are two areas that I believe are part of the problem. There's probably more but I need to know for sure what I am looking at. Once I identify the plants and vines, how do I get rid of them without killing the other plants? As for the stinging nettles, how do I get rid of them?
Bought home w/ lots of poison ivy n nettles!
If you cannot spray, cut them down to the ground and continue cutting every time they pop up again, eventually they will die due to lack of chlorophyll. If you can dig the roots out, then that would be the most effective way. You can also cut to the ground and cover the area with some kind of light blocker to prevent new shoots.
