Hi! I have this Chinese evergreen sitting in a window facing directly north. I keep the blinds open during the day. I think the plant is healthy in general but I feel like the leaves may be a little more droopy than they should be. And I'm not sure the pot size is appropriate. Any feedback or suggestions? I'd like to see it grow a little bigger if possible. Thanks!
Does my Chinese evergreen need more light?
Looks fine to me.
Agreed. The upright angle of the newest leaves shows it's getting an amount of light it loves. It's normal for the older leaves to be pointing down at the tip. It could adjust to more light, but when the leaves stay more upright for longer, it's not as attractive on this plant (or necessary for perfect health,) the wow factor is on the top of the leaves of this plant.
I wouldn't mess with it while it's looking so perfectly happy, but do keep an eye on it for any brown tips, which, under what must be great care of yours, would probably mean the roots have run out of room & are forming a pancake at the bottom of the pot.
If you think it looks leggy, cut some stalks and root them in water or moist substrate and fill in the rest of the pot with the stalks. This will also encourage dormant buds on the current stalks to put out new growth tips.
Why do people hardly ever come back here after asking a question?
