I live in new England area and wanted some help in deciding what to plant or re-plant to make my lawn bed look beautiful throughout summer. Attaching images of the 2 lawn bed.
Lawn Bed 1 :
- Some daffodil (which I don't like after spring)
- Small Rose plan near daffodil
Lawn Bed 2
- just planted two Azelea(Salmon Pink color)
Help deciding what to plant
For fast color in part shade Impatiens are great, in a bit more sun Bedding Begonias or Lobelia would grow well. In full sun something like Petunias, Marigolds, and many others.
These are all treated like annuals. Get them in the ground, enjoy them, then remove them as winter approaches.
For more permanent color look into perennials that will overwinter in your zone.
For permanent shrubs, allow the Azaleas to grow, they will just about fill that bed, and look for something similar for the area with the rose. Best to keep low plants or mulch nearest the rose, don't plant things that get so large they crowd it.
Hmm... not too bad. I can see the shading where I added the pictures, though.
Anyway, filling in the area with seasonal color would give it a boost.
