Can any multi-trunked house plant be braided?

Clayton, NC

I just found out a mystery house plant I have is an ardisia elliptica (thanks to Dave's Garden members), and I was wondering if I could braid or twist the trunks around each other like people do with ficus, money tree, and a few others. It's probably fine to just try it, but I want to make sure it won't damage and kill it since I've had it quite a while since it was a little tiny thing and am rather attached to it. Any info or suggestions are appreciated!

The stems need to be very pliant. Works well with some plants, not so great with others. Takes patience, too. You might get just a beginning of a braid today, tie it into place, then wait for more new growth to keep on training. Older growth is difficult to change how it is growing. New growing branches are delicate, but can be manipulated.

That's good advice. I can't recall ever having seen a braided Ardisia.
