I have this huge tree that we cut down and the center was hollow so I filled it with mulch and potting soil and planted in it, now the termites have taken over and are all inside the soil. I am not sure what to do to get rid of them . I have used viper dust and watered it in but it didn't even phase them. What can I do to kill the termites.
termites
Unfortunately termites are one pest that is best left to professionals. They have access to stronger pesticides that can penetrate the soil better to kill them.
While individual termites can be killed by most pesticides, this does not kill the nest. I do not know if they take baits very well, either.
My sister had the same problem with a pot she had only potted up a week. She yanked out her plant and rinsed it off. She bagged the dirt and poured in some pesticide and put it out for garbage pickup.
I did have my pest control guy spray the tree stump. He didn't even charge me extra.
